The rule for superstock are a little hazy around breather system modification. Routing breather lines away from the stock airbox is allowed. If they are routed away from the stock airbox they have to go to a catch can. If you want to be a stickler, that's all that's explicitly mentioned about the breather lines, but is anyone running in Superstock who has simply blocked off the breather barbs and fully removed the lines?
you are then illegal if you block them off... if it specifically stated how it then anything else NOT stated is illegal... could you get away with it possibly .. if you are winning races you open yourself up to some one to contest your build... of course ive also seen the guy in 10th contest the guy in 9th. so there is always that... I always err on the side of what the rules say strictly
That's definitely the way to stay on the safe side and it's probably what I'll do. I'm just adjusting valve lash right now and thinking to myself... "really wish I didn't have to deal with all these hoses every time I wanted to get in here". I doubt I'll be winning races anytime soon, but I know how competitive people get, so I'll keep the can of worms in there for now. Are you talking about the secondary air injection system? That is legal to block-off, at least with WERA. It's considered part of the exhaust/emissions system. If you're referring to the actual crankcase breather, absolutely DON'T block that off. That vents the crankcase pressure which will need somewhere to go. It goes to the airbox by default, but you are allowed to route it to a catch-can instead. In either case, there is the ability for the pressure in the crankcase to be vented. If you plug that one, that pressure will find the next best/weakest place to go. The rulebook when talking about a breather is referring to the crankcase breather, not the secondary air system (KLEEN, PAIR, etc.).
