Sooo, I need to get a back protector, and am wondering if you ladies have any recommendations or feedback for me, as I'm not familiar with how certain brands fit or feel.

I'm looking for one suitable for my petite size (5' 2"); on the thin side; nothing too bulky...for the sake of comfort and because my suit fits just like a glove...

Get a custom on from Impact safety armor. They are thin and are...well...custom.

I use the back armor that unzips from the A*'s "Stella Bionic Jacket" (this thing here: http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=4202)

I bought the armor when it was on close-out from STG and love it because I have something to wear under a sweatshirt (the full jacket) if I want to go dirt-bike riding, and the back armor fits perfectly under my suit and snugs around the waist with the 2x velcro straps.

It's pretty thin/comfortable. And it's rated as "Level 2" which, after I read several different websites, seems to imply it will take more impact than a "Level 1".

I have a Knox Aegis, the smallest size available. It fits me pretty well, I'm 4'11" but have a little bit longer torso.

When you say "smallest size available," is it the smallest one for adults, the 5-plate? Or the youth 4-plate one? I saw that one too.

I have crash tested the knox contour. All I can say is that it works!

Please consider a chest protector also. A very hard hit to the sternum (breastbone) can be life threatening. They will feel funny at first but once you get used to them it feel weird without the protection.

And don't forget to protect you hips and tailbone. I wear Bohn Bodyguard Adventure Armored Shorts. The extra padding let me walk away without a bruise on my hips/lower extremities.

You can always have your suit altered a bit to allow for extra room.

I have the Knox 6 plate back protector and it works great! I'm 5 foot 4 on a good day! I also have their chest proctor. It took me a weekend to get use to it but I love it now!
