A few of us are interested in the bike night at Gingerman this year. What all goes on for the bike nite event? I heard it's fun, but never asked what goes on.
I noticed there are a few bike nites at Gingerman? Is there something different at each one or is it all the samething? I'm sure it's always a blast just wanted to get an insight on it all.
Bike nights have NO class room. I would highly advise against this as a first trackday. tech registration 4-5pm Track goes hot at 5pm normal stt format intermediate,Advanced and novice 20 minutes each till dark. there will be coaches but not as many as a typical day. not you typical beer and bikini bike night .
Roughly how many session is that ? 4? also not sure how to gauge my tire wear its really close to the wear mark in center but sides still have meat, as any typical Michigan city bikes.
I think it's about 4 sessions but sometimes they're 30min sessions being as not as many ppl show up as a full track day. So they combine intermediate with advanced. I think you'll be more than fine if only the centers look worn. What tire?
Wow looks like you go hard on the streets lol from the tire wear I'd say your rebound is too slow. The leading edge of the grove is worn down. Could be wrong tire pressure or too soft of preload as well depending on your weight and suspension but most likely 90% time it's wrong rebound that causes that. If you're tight on money I would rock another track day depending on your pace. The only thing is pray it doesn't rain lol you don't have sipes in the centers and also the thinner carcass doesn't hold heat quite as good. I've heard only good things about q3s being grippy even until they're bald so use your best judgment and also depending on who does the tech inspection they could say you need new tires but very unlikely. I mainly hit corners on country side, yes my pressure was low took it out 3 times before I changed it, but all easy rides, I love my Q3, my suspension is dialed to my LBs but Its been a long Winter lol I also go low, on few fav corners,
Zoomzx6r - I would recommend changing that tire out. To pass tech, your tires need to be at least 50%. With yours being into the wear bars down the center, it does not meet that criteria. For reference, the tech regulations can be found on the Sportbike Track Time website. Feel free to ask here, or direct message me if you have any additional questions. See you at the track!
You are welcome to come and sign up at the gate, there are spots open in all groups. See you at the track!
Question. I haven't ridden the track in two years and have a new (to me) fully prepped track bike. I also have never ridden on Gingerman before. Would Bike Night be a good way for me to get acquainted with the new bike, or should I wait for a regular track day so I can get attend the classroom sessions?
Classes are always a big plus, learned a lot, did my first bike night but really love the classes and the different scenarios they do on regular days.
