Only a few weeks away!! I know I'm pumped to be able to make it this year and cannot wait for this event! :cheer: Who else is signed up/planning on going??
If there are any girls around the Louisville, KY area who are interested in attending and need a ride, contact me! I know 3 local girls who have done track days so I approached them; 1 can't do at all because of the holiday weekend; another is on the fence but sounds like I can talk her into it if I get a 3rd helper for gas, because my 3rd girl is working! Really not sure of plans in the least bit, so nothing definitive...but throwing this out there.
I'm coming! My husband is being the bestest and taking me -- even though he won't be able to ride himself.
I will be there Friday-Sunday! Looks like it will be my first track day in 10 months. ACK! I am hoping to get something in before then, but I have been having trailer, bike, gear issues. But I WILL BE AT GRATTAN! If I have to ride the damn bike the 600 miles.
Do you drive through Cincinnati, OH? I might consider, if not follow, if the hubby feels up to letting me take the truck and trailer solo.
Mapquest has me traveling through Indianapolis at around 7 hours. If I alter that to Cincinnati, that adds another 50 miles and around 8 hours total. Are you on the local Cincinnati forum, assfaultjunkies? I don't know the gals there personally, but several are pondering the idea of signing up. Can we get some more information about this track event/weekend please? My friend April now can do this but I want more information. I've never been there; of course neither has she. I've searched around and learned they run CCW and CW. Which will be run Fri/Sat/Sun? Also - garages; the going rate is about $30 a day and that includes power? What's the upper paddock for $20 (or was that old news?)? If I don't want to pay that, are there other areas to pit that are paved?
Sherry, Garages are first come first serve at the track and yes they include power. Gates will probably open Thursday night, camping is free. Bathrooms are marginal......just saying! I know nothing about an upper paddock fee, never been charged before ever! This is our home track. Pavement in upper and lower paddock so no issues there. Depending on where you park you might have to turn the bike around in the lower paddock to get back out on the track. Upper is completely paved so can be really hot if the weather is hot. Lower is paved/grass so is cooler. Friday and Saturday are CW, Sunday is CCW. Totally different track and tons of fun CCW. You just have to watch the hump on the back side past the bowl and the s curves.......the bike will come off the ground there! Hope this helps, its a really fun track!
Lynn, thanks for the information. I am now signed up on Friday with 1 friend in for sure; another will be a last minute decider pending home closing. I am still deciding on Saturday myself. We are reserved with the Candlestone, though, both Thurs and Friday nights. Of course I wished the track was run CCW since it seems most talk highly of it and that's the configuration WERA ran last month.
CCW is a lot of fun, but there are many people that don't like it. This is why it isn't run as much. I personally love the track both ways. On weekends that we do CW one day and CCW the next, it's like doing two different tracks in one weekend. I do know some people that refuse to run CCW though. WERA races the track one weekend CCW, but the Double Header weekend is CW, the more common and popular race configuration. CCW isn't the most popular configuration and most riders are a second or more slower CCW.
Sherry, you should stay and run saturday at least. one day to get to know the track, the next day to be more comfortable. i dont think my shoulder will be ready to ride at that time so, i will be designated pit bitch. Eric
wera runs grattan twice a year.....one cw and once ccw. The august race is cw! you should stay for the second day, grattan is like barber, you need two days to figure it out at the very least. Its technical and all the corners are blind. The pavement looks bad but it has awesome grip! Can't wait to see you there!
I'll be there! It's my first time doing a track day, so I may be recognizable by my blinking hazards and training wheels….
You'll do just fine. Anyone who is on the fence (nervous) about doing the ladies only day, I can assure you it will be the most fun, low keyed & relaxed trackday you can ever do. You will have FUN. No one will be asked to ride any faster than they feel comfortable. No will be asked to do anything they do not feel comfortable doing. You will be able to practice riding techniques which will increase you riding confidence & comfort level. You will meet some AWESOME other riders. You will make new friends. and You will have FUN.
Just took the trailer out on the final fully loaded test run! Success! And I found a two piece suit I can use for the weekend! Now the next three days at work will be the longest days ever!
