This is the first year ill have one of my own(honda eu2000). My question is do you run yours all day straight or do you turn it off when u go out to ride and its not powering your warmers? is it bad to run it all day straight? is it bad to constantly be firing it up and turning it off? thanks
They're designed to run for long periods, so that shouldn't be an issue. Mine's never showed signs of trouble and I turn it off while I'm on track. It barely sips gas, so it's mostly just a habit at this point.
Leaving it running won't be an issue, but shutting it off also insures that your warmers don't get left on.
I run 2 sets of warmer off my Ryobi 2200 and they are on alternating ride groups generally when I'm coaching... I never shut it off from 730am til 5pm never an issue...
The Honda should have an eco switch. My Champion inverter does and I usually leave it on eco. When its doing nothing it idles down. The Honda should do the same. Saves a little gas. One problem I've encountered with these quiet inverter gennies, you don't hear them real well and dont realise that it ran out of gas at the most inopportune time.
That's why I got a three-pronged, light up extension cable! Removes the power strip from the equation, too.
Someone somewhere else mentioned plug a radio up to it. On bright days the lights are hard to see. But you'll know when the radio is off, that the Genny is out of fuel
Or plug in your pit fan. Trust me, when you come in off the track on a 90+ degree day down south, where the humidity is like 8000%, and you don't have a fan running.....you'll know it pretty quickly. The other option is to plug in a Disco Ball and when the people quit dancing.......your generator is out of gas!
I run mine all day and all night sometimes. eco idle it's almost silent. I fill the genny and my bike at lunch unless you have extended run full tank it is a must. change the oil about every 4th weekend
I have a Honda eu2000i and noticed that I ran out of fuel after around 4-5 hours of continuous use (non eco mode). I don't have an expansion tank Edit: Continuous use of tire warmers only Does this seem right?
I've got the Yamaha equivalent and that sounds about right to me. I always run in eco mode though and so mine tends to last about 10 hours. Not sure how large your fuel tank is though. Mine is 1.1 gallons.
I just picked up 2 brand new Yamaha 2000'IS's with a pigtail kit and covers off Craig's List..... $1600.00 a guy bought them but then wanted something bigger...
