As most of you know, I do registration at the Southern Events & the one thing I hear from the new people is that they had been riding a motorcycle on the street for YEARS and never knew that trackdays existed. How did you hear about Sportbike Track Time or track days in general? How do we connect with those people who have no idea that great opportunities (like riding your bike on the track, or getting to know all of you) are out there?
I think the desire to ride a motorcycle on a track would drive most people to seek out the information. I probably found you all through Google.
Internet, like most people I imagine. Somewhere while watching hours and hours of youtube videos from MCN, or Sport Rider Magazine, etc., you'll eventually hear about it. Thus the snowball begins..
2001..... Just bought my TLR after 9-11..... I said life was too short.... Then Shack called me and said...... Ever heard of Putnam???? It was all over after that...
Google. I got tired of almost getting run over every time I rode on the street...and going fast is really fun, so I thought the track would really be a safer, more enjoyable experience. One of the better decisions I've made in recent years!
Had some friends that did them, way back in 2003/2004. They finally talked me into it in 2005...... July at Putnam. There was this guy named Chris Onwiler that was my coach that day and I remember thinking..... Damn, this is awesome, I'm going to have to do another one of these...... I did!
I've read on on motorcycle forum that people do track days, but I couldn't find any info how to get on the track in my area. My friend found out about STT and Right right program. Since our first free track day, we are addicted
I found out about track days after searching for local club racing. I found the MCRA and they do track days which was a relief to me because I wasn't wanting to actually race, I just wanted to ride on a track. Did my first track day, got hooked and found STT via Google. Judging from the votes, I'd say getting information about STT to dealerships and places like Cycle Gear would be a good idea.
I found out about track days through a mutual friend after riding street for 9 years he said you have to try this I said let's go did my first day at Putnam had trevor is my coach and have never looked back
For me it was a friend that had been doing track days, He took us under his wing and we never looked back! Paul Rohan was my first coach and he made it all click! I think we should try to get into more dealerships with fliers or little info placards. Had I known about STT 10 years ago my whole path would have been different! We have a coach sponsored by the local dealership here where I live yet there is not a peep about STT in the building. Why not offer a discounted track day with purchase of a Sportbike?
I found out about STT and track days on Road Atlanta's web site. Track days are a well kept secret to the general public.
I have owned street bike since I was 14 years old. I purchased my first bike in 1990 (K. Ninja 500)...I have owned a bike every since 1990. I have had a Ninja 500, CBR 900, YZF R1, CBR1000RR, and two CBR600RRs. It was not until about 5 years ago when I married my wife and met my brother - in - law. He is three years younger than I am and he was racing WERA at the time. He had a bad crash while I was still dating his sister and gave the sport up, but he kept telling me to go to the track. LOL From that point "Google" gave me everything else that I needed to know. LOL
I found out through great friends. They talked me into trying it through your Ride Right program, which I did, and immediately became addicted Thanks guys!
Found out about STT from a friend. Have since put links to the forum on several other forums. Triumph Tiger 1050, Triumph Speed Triple 1050 and the ZX6R forum's. STT is great for track info, parts leathers etc but motorcycle specific info your better off on that bikes forum. Since I own all three bikes above and really support track days keep pushing people here, tell them this is a great place to buy the gear to so they can do the track day. Once you start wearing full gear, it becomes second nature to do the same on the street.
So, This new guy moves into the neighborhood, and he rolled up to me on his bike one evening at the gas station, and he said, "Bro, you ever heard of STT?" and I was like, "Naw Bro, what u talking bout?" Then he invited me back to his place, . It was there that I learned all about STT! Now look at me, It has affected my whole family.
