Hi, Im looking for advice on suits. Im no racer, just a slow intermediate rider, but love track days and plan on doing them for a while so willing to invest in a good suit. I am 6'1", 210-220 lbs depending on the season and my level of laziness, and used to own a Dainese Laguna Seca 58eur - suit was stolen from me and need a new one. I liked my previous suit a lot, but it was a bit tight in the chest/midsection area with the back protector.

Have considered moving to A*, going Dainese again (maybe up a size), and others, but have really wondered about custom suits. Any recommendations on who to consider??

    Thanks for your input!

If your going to do custom I would probably say Pilot http://pilotmotosport.com/

Theres a few deals still around on Rst riders discount and A* at sportbiketrackgear
fair warning A* don't seem to be friendly in the mid section

I have a Pilot semi-custom suit and I absolutely love it. Very good quality, very good buying experience and overall just a great suit. Warning, this time of the year they are extremely busy I suspect, so don't get any false hopes that you can just order something and it will be done in a week or two.

Another very good resource is Barnacle Bill. My wife has a B.B. custom made suit and it is absolutely top quality.

What suits are "friendly in the mid section"? I'm ummm... asking for a friend <cough> who's mid section challenged. Yeah, a friend, that's it.

We are a GiMoto dealer. They specialize in custom suits and have a great Made to Measure page to design your own suit. Check out www.gimotousa.com and let me know if you have any questions. Hand made in Italy.

I spoke with Pilot last year and will likely go with them this year. I've heard nothing but great things about their product and service. I spent some time with their staff, talk and looking at their stuff at Laguna Seca. It's likely my next suit. This time of year, their back log is the longest it is during the year. So plan ahead.

That's a good question. tecknic seem to be more forgiving than most. cortech seem to be roomy but I haven't been impressed with there quality is questionable. the scorpion's seem to be good quality and STG was blowing them out and they had more center room.
Definitely not spidi they seem to be built for sticks even thinner than A*

Holy Cow (see what I did with that......Cow leather). I had not heard that until now. Glad Peggy got her suit a couple of years ago.

I pulled the trigger on GiMoto instead of Alpinestar or Held. Came about with much research.
