Over winter I brought my bike inside and did a full tune up. Plugs oil tires ect. With all this nice weather we're having i managed to get out and go for a ride yesterday. I made it about 30 miles and my oil drain plug came out. I forgot to torque it, just had it in finger tight. It covered my new super sport evo with oil. Is there a way to clean it or should I replace it?

If it were me, I'd take the wheel off and scrub it down real good with some hot soapy water and a stiff brush.
I think the brake cleaner may be tough on the rubber.

I put the bike on a stand and soaked the tire with brake cleaner. Cleaned up nice. The rubber does feel different now. Kind of sticky.

smooth lol one time i forgot to put the oil plug in at all and ran a gallon of oil through the bike wondering why it took so damn much and the oil level wasnt right then looked under bike and saw it all dripping into the pan hahaha LUCKILY i dumped the old oil and cleaned the pan and put it back under the bike, put the plug back in and used the oil i just ran thru it lol

related to tires, I have a question if I should replace my tires just because they are "old".

I'm a novice who has done 4 track days (group 4,5,6 out of 8 or 9) to give an idea of the usage......and both tires were new like in 2011. That being said someone had mentioned that tires are sort of like milk which have a date code on them and after a while they go bad. Since the bike has been on a trickle charger and 2 stands in the off season, do I need to be concerned?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

This is why I have my oil plug safety wired, even for the street! It reminds you to tighten it, plus it's peace of mind knowing it won't back out. Oil filter, oil filler cap, and oil dipstick are also wired with "diaper pins".

I had someone call me during an oil change once and did the same thing.

I would just get a new tire. As it heats up, an oil absorbed into the rubber could come out and make things slippery. Just toss it and consider it lesson learned. Even if the grip is ok, if you hit damp area of pavement, you could have an issue.

Post some Pics..... As others said when in doubt toss em out.... There was a rider who shall be unknown who had a Old Power Race from like 2007 on her bike last year... Lets just say she wadded EVERYTHING up from the rear tire sliding out.... Tires can lose more than the eye can see... We will have Michelins and Dunlops for sale Trackside...

I would not ride on tires that old IMHO. A set of Dunlop Q3's are like 240 shipped, which is much cheaper than any crash. It is worth replacing them for peace of mind, one less thing to worry about.

I would definitely toss them. If they were unused tires made in 2011 I would use them , but once used they do not last as long. Why spend a bunch of money on a track day only to be holding back because you don't trust your tires? Q3's a awesome and cheap.

Shameless plug.....I have some pretty fresh bridgestone rs10's for sale in the classifieds.
