I'm in need of a rear wheel spacer for an 06/07 Gsxr 600. Mine was somehow ground down on one side. I am planning on riding Barber Saturday and the motorcycle shop ordered the wrong spacer. I will pay extra if someone has that spacer that I could have. Please help a brother out! Part number: 64751-35f00
I'd contact Newleaf below. http://www.sttforum.com/index.php?threads/06-07-gsx-r-parts-at-barber-this-weekend.17112/ I've got a couple but they're not going to make it there in time from Canada lol Btw posting a pic would help, they are different on each side of the rear tire. Tlr67 might also have one. You have one of the most common bikes you should be able to find one. Good Luck
I think I might have one in the box but don't know if it's the one for a 1000 or 600.... Come down to tire service and it's yours if needed.. My tools are already packed up otherwise I would take a pic.... If not I could take the one out of my 1000 and you could use it and I could ride my TLR that day... And ride my GSXR Sun and Mon...
Yes I will be doing tire service under the garage.... Look for the 2 white bikes and red toolbox... The spacer is in there... It is the one with the lip on it correct? Also bring your bad one.... Just in case...
I'd be more concerned how that happened. Bad wheel bearing? That could be really bad. The spacers align the wheel and put the torque force of the axle on the right parts of the bearing. If those spacers aren't symmetrical, make sure they are installed the right direction. If you choose to ride it, with a new spacer, borrow an IR gun and see if the bearing or spacer has heated up.
I have a IR Gun too if needed.... Good advice above... That one does not look too bad..... Her eis what I have... I don't think my 1000 will work for the flat one...' This is yours for the taking if it does work.... I do have the one with the lip on it too.
I noticed the spacer when I was mounting my new wheel and tire with brand new bearings. I had an eBay wheel on the bike. The bearings were sound when I originally got it. And seemed to roll fine when I rolled my finger inside them after I pulled it off the bike. But new bearings in the new wheel.
When will you be getting to the track TLR? I took my spacer to a machine shop to get it smoothed out. Just in case I do have to use it.
In about 5 hours.... I will be down at Lot G but can leave it with Felix at the gate for you if needed...They put Staff in Lot G before entry
I have a few zoom motorsports shirts that might get me in the paddock. But I really appreciate you helping me out!
Make sure that when you tighten the rear axle, that you can spin the rear wheel by hand easily. Even with a chain on, it should free wheel a turn or so it's own. It would take a lot of friction to f up a wheel spacer like that. Make sure that you haven't lost a spacer in between the wheel and the sprocket carrier. On my SV, it would fall out when I put the sprocket carrier down. If I didn't remember it, the rear wheel wouldn't spin. Also, the bearings, new or old, may be great when you spin them with your fingers. But when you Squeeze them under 80 ft lbs of torque between the swing arm with the an axle bolt. Things could be different. I could see it possible that a bearing is fine just sitting loose. But the race could be cracked where you can't see it. When the axle is torqued, it could be a different situation. I'd put some time in and REALLY look at EVERYTHING in the rear area to ensure it's solid and assembled correctly and nothing missing or damaged.
I reinstalled everything Friday night, took it for a short test run (with the new bearings and undamaged spacer) and it rode fine. The spacer I was replacing was the spacer between the sprocket carrier and swingarm. Everything felt fine, so I was comfortable taking it to the track for Saturday. She ran like a top and I didn't feel any problems with power delivery. But I am going to pull it all back apart today and make sure that the spacer is not damaged again.
