Complete newb question... I watch the MotoGP races and invariably I see riders cruising without their hands on the bars. How do they do this? Are they in neutral when they do this? Or do these bikes not have any engine braking? I could not cruise like that on my bike unless I got up to speed and then shifted to neutral. Just curious if anyone can educate a newb ;-)

You talking about after the race? Not sure, maybe they have a higher idle rate and in a low gear it doesn't bog down.....

With the wild output of those engines I am willing to be their Idle is a bit higher, but I doubt the engines make enough power at proper idle to continue travel like that. I am willing to bet they can manipulate the electronics some how to elevate the idle above and beyond in order to cruise like that.

And Crutchblow hits the Tarmac again..... I'm sure t was the bikes and mechanics fault again... 4 wrecks in 5 races! Maybe he will beat his 13 crash mark from last year..

Ya if Cal doesn't start finishing some races he's not going to have a job next year. Not to mention the two knuckleheads on the Ducati, you need to keep it upright to get any points boys!!. Maybe the new tires are really screwing with peoples heads?o_O

That's what I was thinking, who would hire gravel Cal when he pretty much crashes in every race. Boy, I bet Ducati is just drooling to get Lorenzo on board for next year. They have to be frustrated with the 2 Duc riders (even though Dovi has had some bad luck).

Rossi needs to solve his qualifying problems. He's always fighting for the podium no matter where he starts it seems, but he could make life much easier on himself by starting in the front row. Don't know if it would have done any good in this race though, Lorenzo is a machine at LeMans.

Yes, speaking of after the race when they stand up on footpegs and arm pump. Not that I will have an occasion to ever do this mind you - was just curious. My engine braking would cause any coasting, not in neutral, to end fairly quickly.

They are also going a fair bit faster than you would on the street. I think they just coast and the bike winds down normally. Thats why you never see them doing it for long.

So it looks like Vinales is confirmed to move to Yamaha in 2017 with Rossi. Lorenzo and Dovi at Ducati, Pedrosa staying at Honda and when the music stops.....Ianone is without a chair? Might move to Suzuki??

I'm excited to see Vinales and Rossi together and I hope the Ducati gives Lorenzo all kinds of problems.....

I think the Duct is not as refined as one might think. We all know George likes his bikes super smooth. I think he in in for a rough time.

And one hear anything about Aleix?

Man, I was buckling in for a nail biter of a race and then Rossi's engine blows..... what a friggin' absolute bummer. Not just for the race but for the championship fight. Totally, absolutely bummed out....

Yea it was a shame. I think Yamaha has some homework to do. With both bikes blowing engines in the same day that's not a good thing at all for the team.

It was a nail biter of a race. Shame about Rossi for sure, being Mugello and all. But what a race and especially the last lap!! Lorenzo's move into biondetti 1 was  and then Marc straight back out of Biondetti2. All three classes were wow. Good stuff from Mugello.

What a race by Rossi!!! Yeah baby!!

and WTF Ianone? That guy is a loose cannon and a danger to other riders. Race direction needs to send him a message.

    And Crutchlow finishes a race!

I do. I have a subscription. I watch every practice and every qualifying session. I get out of bed at ungodly hours so I can watch the races live. But, since last year, there are too many strong opinions about riders (I have 'em too) and I just decided it was best to enjoy in solitude. To be clear, this decision is more about me than others. I am not referring to anyone on this forum. It's just that, in general, since Sepang I have very negative feeling towards one or more of the riders and I've decided the expression "if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all" should be my approach.

BTW, I heard Iannone will start the next race in last place for his transgression.

I love bike racing. I have subscriptions for GP and WSBK. I watch the press conferences, practices, everything I can find the time to (for GP anyway). I generally get around to watching all the classes of superbike as well.
I'm with kisertn though. In racing (and it seems like EVERYTHING these days) people's opinions are so absolute, there are no debates anymore, just arguments, so why bother. It is rare to find a person who is willing to even have a peak at the other side if an argument.
