Coming off of the Gratten CCW weekend and this is the result on my tire. Wondering if any of you experts can give me an idea of if something is wrong with my setup? Aside from the tearing, it seems weird that the wear is so localized and has an uneven line on the edge of where it's worn. I'm usually one of the faster guys in "I", at least at shorter tracks where the literbikes can't mulch me on the straights. :)

Bike is an '03 SV650. Ohlins SU606 rear, Perelli Supercorsa SC2 tires running 24psi cold. Rear shock was Initially installed and set up by Kenny, and recent sag and tweaking was done by Trackside Suspension.

My first guess would be rear shock is maxed out or improperly set. While personally I have nothing against Kenny's work - I will say he tends to set the bike suspension up as if you are a Pro-level racer, and this setup can sometimes be a bit extreme for "I" pace or even a decent "A" pace. It all depends on the rider and the bike.

I'm no expert on the subject, but the pattern looks like the rear is pumping due to either the spring rate, compression or rebound.

The link below has a little more info on the various types of tire wear, and hope you find the fix!

EDIT: I realize this doesn't help much, but hopefully a more skilled suspension person can guide you in the right direction!

My Pirelli sc2 slick did the exact thing on my SV650 on a really hot day at Grattan last year. I attributed it to the SC2 not being as tolerant of heat as the SC1 in addition to me cooking the tire by running 2psi less than I should have. It only did it that one day and never happened before or since.

Thanks for the link. That article indicates that my rebound might be set wrong.

could it be that with the tire having dual compound the sides wear differently because it is a softer compound? but the unevenness of the wear line makes me think your rear end was bouncing all over the place as well so im not sure also the pressure would be good to know as well

I'm running 24psi cold, Pierelli recommends 23-26psi cold. I don't recall the hot temps offhand, but I recall seeing around 27psi immediately off the track.
