Alright guys so my track season is over for the year so I'm working on getting money saved up to buy some parts for the bike and a generator. What's a good generator to use for tire warmers and a fan? Just wanting to get some ideas from experience from other track riders. I'm not looking to buy a $1,000 dollar generator just something that would get the job done. I would like to get one of the newer ones that are actually kind of quiet if I can find one that's affordable.

I used a small ryobi from home depot all season. ran good, quiet, and cheap. didn't run tire warmers with it but it would work to, but nothing else.

There are a couple used honda eu2000's for sale on here. I know there is some stickers shock but they are 100% worth it. Besides, as long as you take care of it, you be able to sell it for nearly what you paid for it to begin with.

Have a Champion 2000w inverter. Runs a set of warmers and a 20" fan no problem. Menards has them on sale at times. Paid $450 for mine. Started right up after sitting in the trailer all winter this spring. Get an hand pump though to change the oil. Makes a serious mess trying to tip it on its side to drain it.

Go for quite,, Check Costco Generac

Decent warmers will pull less power than the cheaper ones.

OH, look me up. Your not to far.. Should see you out at Putnam.

Seems like this topic is generating a lot of opinions :D

I had a Ryobi 2000 Watt that was pretty quiet for the first 6 months or so but after a while it was really getting loud.
Prime example. I have the Yamaha 6300 Inverter and my friends Ryobi 2000 can be heard over my Yamaha. I see a generator as an investment really. I will get almost all of my money back out of this Yamaha if I ever sell. I didn't even get 1/2 out of my Ryobi.

2000 inverter. Guy at ACC pitted behind me had a 3500/4000w champion regular styled one and it was pretty quiet compared to other ones of that style also.

Pretty sure Apex rents them for $25 a day if you haven't purchased one by then. Quite Yamahas.

I just got a champion 3500 watt inverter generator. Electric start with a remote to start and stop it remotely and super quiet, came with wheels and handle all built into the case. It really is a nice generator. It was $1100 with free shipping from Cabelas.

The quietest are going to be inverter generators.

I do believe usually you get what you pay for but I bought a "Yamaha clone"...WEN 56200i after much research just because I justified the price-point and WEN being an acceptable gamble. Have used it 4-6 track days this year and it's quieter (in eco mode) than the more reputable Yamaha's and Honda's. Starts with little effort, have been very happy with it thus far but I cannot yet attest to reliability. Time will tell. Definitely can't go wrong with a Honda or Yamaha though.
