Notice of a Road Closure that may affect those that travel from the Forsyth County side and crossing Browns Bridge. Map location of construction From GA DOT "Work begins tonight (Oct 9) to replace the 20-year-old driving surface on Browns Bridge at the Hall and Forsyth County lines. The material has a lifespan of 10 years. A single lane will be closed at about 7 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Saturday, according to Katie Strickland, spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Transportation’s District 1. Those closures will continue every night through the end of the month, Strickland said. However, the bridge will be completely closed the weekends of Oct. 21-24 and Oct. 28-31 beginning at 9 p.m. that Friday and continuing until 5 a.m. that Monday. Detour signs will be placed at the intersections of McEver Road/Ga. 53 and Browns Bridge Road/Ga. 369 as well as Keiths Bridge Road/Ga. 306 and Browns Bridge Road/Ga. 369." I'm sure most will travel via the Interstates, but if you take this route and get stuck, it's a long way around.
Good heads up.... Also just a FYI it will take you 50 Min minimum to get from 400/20 East to 85 now on any given day.... I always cut over Buford Damn to Friendship then 985 to Oakwood.... Takes about 30 Min total trip pulling my trailer now...
Damn, is it really that bad now? I used to live up in that area ... traffic on 20 was always annoying but I don't remember it taking nearly that long.
Also FYI... I-85 (North & South) from the I-985 Suwanee (exit 111) area up to Hamilton Mill (exit 120) there is construction and it gets pretty slow going north on Friday's between 4:30-6:30pm.
Coming from St. Louis on Fridays, I've tried all the Atlanta bypasses I could figure out... going through Jasper and Dawsonville, even Blue Ridge, Suches and Cleveland... I always get stuck behind school busses, make a wrong turn or two... and it seems to take longer than just running down to ATL and sitting in traffic. Chattanooga's not usually a picnic either.
Take 75 South to 53 ( Fairmont Exit) Follow 53 all the way to the track.... Yep lots of lights but never too bad...
