As a service member, I just found out that I will be reassigned to Qatar this summer, and I will be there for two years. One of the tracks on the MotoGP circuit is in Doha, Losail Internation Race Circuit, and they have track days regularly. Here is the question... The country has a regulation that any vehicle being imported cannot be older than 5 years, so what if it is a track bike? Looking to see if anyone has any insight or experience doing this. Thanks!

I'm currently in the UAE and track bikes here must be road worthy. Also to ride on track days you must have your motorcycle license endorsement on your local drivers license. That's here in the UAE may be different in Qatar.

well, according to this from Losail's website, you just need proof of ownership to ride on track. doesn't say anything about a title or road worthiness, but you may need to have a valid drivers license.

information is scarce for the importing thing, but i think the number to the customs office is +974 4714444 and i got that off this Trip Advisor website. I wonder if you tore it down and shipped it as parts if there is no title, if you could get it over there...but from what i was reading online, vehicle prices are pretty cheap there and you might just be better off buying a bike there. plus its hotter than the devils nutsack in qatar and honestly the last thing i want to do in 130* heat is wear a suit and ride my bike.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try calling that number. The other side of me is considering just selling the bike since I don't have a lot into it and just buying a bike over there. And yes, those vehicles were not comfortable, but they did well against IEDs.

    Hi!

Probably stating the obvious, but your TMO should know the answer to your question. However, little known fact, if you keep your HHG well under-weight, you're eligible for a second shipment of belongings, as long as you stay under your weight limit. I don't think they advertise it, but TMO told me allowed me another shipment once I asked the question. FYI, there was no charge for the second pick-up, which was three months after they moved me over here.

I PCS'ed to Italy earlier this summer (at which point they shipped my "regular" house-hold goods, including clothes, furniture, and one motorcycle), but I just shipped a second motorcycle from the states in a second, belated TMO shipment. :0) I regretted not shipping a different bike, so several months later after I got here I asked TMO what the charge would be for a second delivery, and I learned it would be free. Second bike is on the way!

    Safe travels!!

Does the track itself put on and manage the trackday or is there a provider like STT in there. A call to the provider to see what they actually enforce in way of tech and credentials might be the ticket as there could be a difference between what the country says vs what the trackday provider that wants the business actually enforces.
Would there be any leniency for a relocated military guy with your ID and relocation documents? might be worth asking but then again i have no idea what the US relationship with Qatar is.
