I crashed on Sunday and went to the hospital. I just want to give a huge thanks to all the wonderful people who got all my gear together and especially those of you who packed everything up for me. And thank you for all the well wishes. The bike ended up mostly ok, i on the other hand broke my collar bone, 3 ribs, and bruised a lung. I'll be out for a while but i will be back!

Man, that sucks. I recall one on Saturday, too. I hope everyone is alright!

It's a lonely quiet ride on the ambulance to Silver lake Hospital. I've taken it too a couple times with broken bones.

Makes you feel good at a bad time when your stuff gets taken care of.

When and if you feel up to it let us know what happened and how recovery is going.

Nick - I was pitted next to you and heard about what happened. Was a little worried when you didn’t come back on Monday but glad to hear you're ok. I packed most of your stuff up on Sunday including your cell phone and glasses into the side pocket of your duffle bag. Everything else mostly went into the main compartment.

Hope you heal up quick and get back out there! See you soon!

^ this is what makes STT great. When something less than ideal happens , the best riders in the world come together to help other total strangers. Good on everyone!

Here is a video of the crash. It looks like the front end bounced when I came off the rumble strip and back onto the track which lead to the crash. Maybe why I hit the ground so hard? Anyway, kinda kicking myself for not getting the airbag system for my suit, oh well!

I'm continuing to improve, less pain, breathing easier, and my bruises turning lots of fun colors!

Once again, thanks to all my fellow riders and stt staff who helped me out, also the paramedics, nurses, and doctors who took care of me.

I wonder if your knee hit a strip, too? I've seen you ride on other videos and you are good getting your knee down!

    Heal Well!

it was both.... so as you got on the candies you got on the throttle (you can hear it in the video) as such the rear either slid out a little (very easy on the candy) or it combo slid out and down the candy as it is angled slightly... as such you can hear this cause you to chop throttle causing your front end to dive on the candy again its angled and you overloaded the front end by chopping the throttle.. the low side is the end result.

#1 glad you are on the mend

#2 bike is easy to fix

#3 learning from a mistake is even easier given your video!

ps heal up and get back out there, look forward to seeing ya again

Do you think there was a chance to save it by staying steady on the throttle or giving is a little more?

thats a catch 22.... its possible.. I mean my personally preference and MY opinion is when in doubt throttle out, it might not solve the problem but it will end the suspense... haha!

but on the real... in that situation... I think you may have been bit either way... maybe neutral throttle could have been ok.. but more throttle the only 3 responses are it works, you spin out the rear and lowside or you hook and highside to the moon…

I would have stayed in it... but again that is ZERO guarantee that it would have worked
