At all events we have drivers meetings.
For the new riders this can be really important.
For the person trying to announce having a LAG, 25 yards from the drivers meeting is flat BS.

It's bad enough that you own one of these things but don't park so close that the drivers meeting can't be held without shouting and needing to have the thing turned off.
Park on the back 40, get a long thick extension cord and plug it away from everyone.

Since everyone from the STT staff is too polite to rant about this, I'll be the A-hole and take the job.
Nick or anyone else should not have to shout to be heard because of your cheap ass loud generator.

Any STT staff who feels I'm out of place please feel free to rebuke me.
Anyone else who feels like I'm singling you out.
Please explain your logic on why you need warmers and can't afford a quite generator.

Not much of an explanation, more like a poor attempt to divert.
This wasn't supposed to be a hardley thread were loud pipes save lives.
Not to mention, megaphones are unidirectional not omnidirectional.

Before you go just shut a generator down you might want to find out the reason its running..... I am a Quiet Genny person BTW but would never touch anyone else's stuff.... Just put a Garbage can in front of it and all will be well.... And BTW attending these meetings for over 14 years the one thing that is worst than a Generator are all the Sidebar conversations taking place during the meetings.... Staff, Customers ect... If I can hear you talking I will call you out in front of 100 People.... From a Professional point its rude and downright disrespectful.... This goes for staff leaving the meetings early as well...

LISTEN TO NICK AND TREVOR PEOPLE...... JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND LISTEN!! Its not that hard....

ok, so I'm going to go a few ways with this.

First off Welcome to a sport that is loud, at ACC when Nick is giving his riders meeting there are gennys running and whats even louder is them formula cars and the likes getting ready for their day … revving and whatnot.. it sucks but should we walk over and tell them to shut them down?

I am a very much a quiet genny guy, but I used to not be... I did make a concerted effort to make it as quiet as possible for my track mates.. and neighbors.
I would love to see people shut off their own louder gennys during the meetings but that isn't always possible. as Marc said the more annoying is certainly talking and carrying on by those at the meeting not paying attention.

to your point. not everyone can afford a quiet genny… your point of you can afford tire warmers but cant get a quiet Genny is flawed...
as I progressed in this sport I was extremely broke as many of us are... I didn't use race rubber or warmers until I ran advanced . so when I finally needed them I did what everyone one does.. best deal available.. I was able to score a set of warmers for $100 and a honda 3000 commercial genny for $200... so 300 bucks to be able to up my game.. who would say no. I wanted to ride.. I wanted to be safer and I wanted to progress so I did what I could to do so that meant saving money where I could to ride more and a loud genny doesn't compromise my or others safety so I could cheap out a little here with used products... (never skimp on gear) then guess what as I was able to ride more I couldn't board my dogs as much so I needed to bring them... so I hooked up a fan and other things to my trailer so that I could bring them and them be safe... yet again.. genny not only for warmers now it was keeping my dogs cool in the 90* heat and therefor safe. I did whatever I could to keep my genny quiet for others.. I parked away from others and shut it off at night most of the time but it IS NOT my fault or others if some one parked next to me or close to my old loud genny.. you lost your right to complain, I did what I could to mitigate. I have just as much right to my space as you do. even more so when I park away. but there are times at ACC when there are only a few spots left maybe that is close to where the meeting is held. as things got better I purchased better genny and so on...

do not assume some one is only using their genny for warmers (btw many use warmers in intermediate so they need their genny on during the riders meeting to get the tires up to temp In time as they go first) many people bring their wives / gf / bf / kids / dogs / family / babies / pet goats / iguana it doesn't matter.. NEVER EVER WALK UP AND SHUT OFF A GENNY unless that thing is on fire then run lol... ask politely

remember we want people in this sport.. we want it to expand and succeed. this means trying to make it as easily accessible to as many people that want to be apart of it as we can . guess how that happens.. people have to be able to afford it... so many people have the misconception that this sport has to be expensive when it doesn't. instead of complaining maybe help them... push them towards a quality, budget friendly quiet genny… there are options. but you cannot assume people know them.. I knew nothing when I started over a decade ago.

this goes with everything , dont tell people you have to have this or that to be able to have fun and enjoy our sport... help them

very well said. I have upgraded as much as I can as far as gear and transport. Honestly the last thing I need to get is a quiet generator. In order for me to power everything I need, it would cost a lot more than I have to spend. I try to do everything I can to be respectful and then I see people like Indy pretty much bad mouthing me because I can't afford it. I feel like that is just as disrespectful. I've actually read where people said they would cut the power cord. That's total BS. I would most likely be banned from STT for life if someone did that to me

Hell, if all that goes bad on my trackday is a loud generator at a morning meeting, it’s a GOOD DAY for me. ;)
(I’ve had a really bad couple of years of trackdays but I keep fixing the bike and my body and try again)

I can deal with or flat ignore LAG next to me.

The point was for new riders and the drivers meetings.
Did I turn off the generator, no. Did I ask for the generator to be turned off no.
I did have issues hearing the staff and vendors trying to yell over the inconsiderate person who parked very very close to the driver meeting location which is the same place every event.
Having the generator is one thing, the first one I had wasn't quite like my Honda. But I spent some extra to try and make being next to me not annoying.

The main point was simple, having a LAG is one thing. Try and be considerate and not make it harder for the STT staff and new riders who really need to hear that information.
2 event's ago I was setup next to a rig that cost more than my house, truck, trailer, bike and all my gear together with a LAG.

Thanks to all the STT staff and you Jason, do really appreciate everything you do.

Listen Indy, people pay ton of $$ for track days and tires and having a quiet generator is not a priority, the priority is having a generator. You bashing riders with loud generators is simply unacceptable.

At my first (and only, thus far) STT day at Grattan I was next to a loud generator. It wasn't there when I chose my spot, and once it got going, it ran the whole day. I didn't hear a single loudspeaker announcement the whole day.

It was annoying, but it wasn't really my place to tell someone to do something about there generator. I figured that since I was a rolling roadblock the whole day on the track, I'd call it even...

But, what would be helpful to newbies like me is that when we show up at the gate, maybe suggest where we should set up our pit. I didn't realize I'd be mostly around the staff and fast people, and had I known that, I would have chosen the lower paddock where it seemed a bit quieter and more low key.

Not hearing the announcements was problematic, but at least the schedule is consistent (on the :40 every hour).

I think it's fine that Indy posted this.

The guys that really can't afford a quiet generator, that's cool. But there are not a few high priced, heavily modded bikes, too.

The asshats that don't give a fuk about their LAG and how it affects their fellow riders are gonna do what they do.

Maybe this thread will reach some of the new guys. And make the paddock a little quieter, better.

Like Nick says, focus on the good and don't dwell on the negative.

Sir, I'm not sure how to make and clarify the MAIN POINT of the thread.
It's not just the LAG, it's putting next to the LOCATION of the drivers meeting.

I found it simply unacceptable too troll with the reply you'll buy one to just park next to me. Trying to elicit what type of response.

I have to BUDGET to get one track day in a month. So buying a reliable quite generator hurt, but considering enjoying the day and me not adding to this problem I bit the bullet.

I'm not trying to focus on the negative and no matter what you come up with pbr1 will let this die.
    I can, can you?

This wasn't supposed to be about ME, it was for the STT staff and mostly THE NEW riders who could not hear crap because of a freaking loud generator next to the drivers meeting along with the vendors who are trying to speak.

If you can not afford a nice quite generator, fine. Just try and be considerate is all I'm saying.

Really surprised by some of the replies.
    Peace all.

I think there is way to much bitching in this sport wether it be track days, racing whatever. For safety stuff absolutely bitch but for everything else like this generator crap etc it really brings negativity into this sport. If you don’t like pitting next to someone move. Why cant people just do these events be laided back, have fun and not stress the small stuff?!
The track isn’t a 5 star RV resort it’s a RACE TRACK! People need to realize this, relax and try to have a good time.

    Rant over

    I’ll make it easy

If you run a jobsite genny when the track is cold your pit neighbors hate you and talk shit about you behind your back.

    You’re that guy.

    Don’t be that guy

Hot track, all bets are off, but you pit neighbors still hate you. Anyone that says it’s cool is lying. They hate you.

You can get an inverter genny now for less than $432

    Seriously, 431 bucks

You have spent more money on dumber shit. We all have.

I sleep in a cargo trailer to save coin, I get being on a budget

    Still, don’t be that guy
