I started racing motocross at age 4 and stopped racing motocross at age 16.i am 19 years old right now and I ride a harley davidson.I got my motorcycles liensces.i want to start road racing because i like speed.i need to know should i get a new motorcycle or a used motorcycle.then I want to know should I get a 1000.
Check the 13x wera forums. They have track ready bikes for sale. Start doing trackdays! You can go as fast as you're capable. Plus you learn the tracks!
I would not recommend a 1000 unless you are swimming in money. tires, fuel and the learning curve is much more difficult. Get a 600 super sport of choice. I would recommend what hellrazorr said get a use track prepped bike it will save you a bunch of money in the long run
Actual racing or trackdays? Also where are you located? If you are looking into real racing that helps a lot with which orgs are in the area. WERA and CCS are the two biggest. Been racing in CCS since 1999 and also 11 yrs on the safety crew. I'd forget 1000's for a 1st racebike. As said before its a severe money pit. Buy a used track prepped bike. I would avoid any ad that says "superbike". That limits you to less classes than a supersport prepped bike. I went down to smaller bikes (lightweights SV's, FZ-7's and the likes) from middleweights (600's). Way more fun. The 600 supersport class (middleweight supersport in CCS) is pretty insane in amateurs.
