My 50th birthday is this weekend... and the best way I know to celebrate is a track day at Barber.

I've invited a bunch of friends to join at around 6pm on Saturday to have a grill and some cake... but I only have a charcoal grill. Barber limits to Propane Grills. Do any of you have a grill you can loan me from about 5 to 9 on Saturday? I have propane already for it...

I hope to have a couple of Brazilian grill masters running this thing... don't worry, they're professionals!

I have a table top Weber you can use. Bring a propane bottle or 2 and you should be good to go. I will be pitted in the big black Momentum 5th wheel along the fence by pit in and the podium at the end of the building.

    Thanks Ed!!!!

Does it use big bottles, or just the small ones?

I have used big bottles before using an adapter but have had some issues with the adapter hose getting clogged and not working so I have been using the little bottles lately. I have a new adapter that I have not used yet, so a big bottle would probably work fine.

Hey Ed, for what it's worth, I've got a Q1200 and I've had the same issue trying to use the RV tank with the adapter. I replaced the regulator twice and it's still not working right. I've read that the reason is because they add a small amount of oil to the propane because of the safety valves on the tanks....keeps them from sticking. The problem is, the oil clogs up the regulator and the tiny orifice for the burner. I've also gone back to using the one pound or 14 oz bottles.

That makes sense. I haven't had any problems with the little bottles. I just hate discarding them when they are empty, but as far as I know there is no way to refill them, just recycle the empties with the rest of the recycling stuff.

Yes, from what I've read, they do not add any oil/lubrication to the small bottles, as there are no safety valves in them that require lubrication. I've got an adapter that I've had probably 30 years that can be used to fill the disposable bottles when they are empty....and that worked well years ago, because they didn't add oil to the propane back then. I could still use it to fill the small bottles, but the 20 or 30 lb. cylinder's propane has oil in the propane......basically a catch 22....so I just buy the disposable too. :(
