Hello all. I am in need of some help in determining the source of what sounds like a noise coming from the upper end of the engine in my GSXR. It is an 08 750 that has been pretty thoroughly built (Super Bike Head, "Knife Edge" crank, +2 cylinders, etc.) by Turn One Racing a number of years ago. It sounded to me like a problem with the cam chain tensioner (manual adjuster installed), but the ticking/knocking continues unchanged regardless of what I do with the adjustment on the tensioner. Just checked valve clearances and they are within spec. I don't think it's a lower end noise like a rod or crank bearing based on my listening with a stethascope, but I've been wrong before. Could this be a problem with the chain guides? The bike is relatively new to me - could this be normal for this level of engine build? The bike seems to run pretty strong and the noise seems to go away with some RPM's and when actually under load. Could I have just not noticed it the first few times out due to being excited about a new to me ride? Any and all suggestions welcome. Thanks!

What oil & weight are you currently running.... That engine needs to warm up to almost hot before you ring it's neck. I would call Joe and ask him.

I'm using the Motul 300V 10W40 in it. I took it over to Brian at WIN racing in Naperville and he wanted to take the head off of it to see what was going on. I'm getting ready to do just that now.
