Teddy, can you give us a run down on these two produts, please?

Differences in how they work, advantages, etc.

    Thanks!

I have the GP style on my SV and not too fond of them really. Maybe I need more time with them. Yesterday I had to adjust the inset screw that holds the bar to the clamp because it had loosened up and the bar was twisting a bit. The tabs that hold the bar at a certain angle (there's two of them) come out easily and can be misplaced. There's just too much going on with them vs. the standard clipons we are used to.

Also because of how they connect to the forks vs the standard way, it just feels different not better but not worse either. Kinda hard to explain really.

    This is IMO.

In the beginning motorcycles used what we call a "standard" style of clipon.

At the request of Jason Disalvo we designed a special set of clipons for him to test. The idea behind the "GP" style is the bar comes directly off the center line of the fork tube thus being a straight lever point. When a "standard" style is used the bar acts in a slightly cam like lever action. Jason wanted the most accurate feed back and input to his steering.

We use red lock tight for the M8 bolt that holds the bar to the clamp. The clamp half that is not asymmetrical lightly holds onto the fork tube. When the clamp half that is attached to the bar is installed to the opposite clamp half one surface mates to this surface. The opposite side of the clamp has a small gap this is where the final torque is used to secure the clamps to the fork tube.

This "GP" style clipon is not for everyone. Taller riders or riders with wrist or elbow problems may not be comfortable with the bar being closer to them, human ergonomics come into play here.

If the M8 bolt is not fully torqued or red lock tight is not used this bolt may come loose thus the bar has a tiny bit of play and is NOT OKAY.

    Hopefully this helps.

I had used lock tite on mine, my guess would be that I didn't use enough of it. I sure did yesterday :)

from my perspective I need more time with them to get used to it, I am not a tall rider (5'8"-5'9"); but how do you address the small "tabs" (sorry don't know the exact word for them) that go into the holes which help with getting the correct angle on the bars? Mine fall out and because of this I lost one of the 2.

The quality of the product is top notch that's for sure!

I have a standard set on my race bike (600RR), it would be interesting to do a back to back track comaprison...

Just put a set of GPs on the GSXR last time out (from stock). I am not a tall person. I only got a half day in due to cramps from the heat in August so...

It took me about a session to get them dialed in where I want. A LOT more feel for me. I could really feel the seams and any tar snakes. At first this was a bit of a distraction but by session three I was loving them and ready to go when I got a cramp in my hamstring and had to wave out (could not even complete a lap).

A bit more leverage and I did not play with the bar angle just the mount angle.

So overall I like the purchase and think with time I will be adding another set to the RC51 so both are the same.

Not sure if that helps but FWIW

I assume you are talking about the 1/8" dowel pins? There are 8 radial holes for the angle you desire. 9* 4.5* 0* -4.5* -9*

    They MUST be used!

This locates exactly the angle the bar is mounted at.

Yes we can send you a replacement dowel pin. Or a high quality hardware store should have dowel pins in 1/8".

Give me a shipping address if I need to have a pin shipped.

Can you PM me or provide on here the specs of the dowel pin? would it be 1/8 x ?? (sorry I don't have the pin with me to measure but I can stop by the store on the way home).

Typically 1/8" x 1/2". These usually held in place in the bar from us via "Locktite".

Cool, I will stop by HD or Menards today to see if they have them. Will you be @ ACC this weekend? If so, can you bring a few with you in case I don't find them at the store? I will gladly buy them from you.

Also, would like to say hi and shake your hand sir!
