It's still open! Yes, we are going back to the Famous TWS in College Station, TX for round 2 of sprint racing and our first round of Big Bike Endurance. We are taking full advantage while we can before we lose this track for good.

I wish we had endurance racing close to my area. Good luck and have fun!

This was a crazy round! Temps in the low 50's and 20-30mph wind didn't make for the best riding conditions on a track with a LOT of sealer. That coupled with a bad tire choice and short gearing made things very tricky. I didn't get to do the halfday Friday practice like I planned due to a shortage of corner workers. I volunteered to extend my halfday commitment to a full day and didn't get to ride. I really could have benefited from the extra seat time.

Some of you may have seen the video floating around of one of the racer school students. Apparently, he thought it was a good idea to try out the launch control function of his new R1M on the mock race. I don't think I have to tell you that was a bad idea. We are all thankful that he did not receive his race license and cannot join us on the grid for at least one more round.

More videos and the rest of my race report to come later...

Wait... I'm confused. I would have thought that a 'launch control' function would have prevented this. Was it that he turned it off? Or...? (what am I missing)

UPDATE - nevermind - I followed the link to YouTube and saw that he had turned it off. Why in the world would you do that? geesh. I'm no rocket scientist but it strikes me that the feature might have been installed for a reason.

The Yamaha electronics are a little more confusing than a simple on/off. From what I gather it was turned on but not activated. The RPMs went to 13k instead of stopping at 10k. When he let out the slightest amount of clutch it went to the moon.
