Hi ladies! I'm wondering what your methods are when it comes to hair and riding. I have really long hair and it always gets knotty after riding. What works best under a helmet and limits the amount of knotty-ness? Braids? Any other products you use to help?

Juicebox (beth) taught me a neat way to tie up my hair. My hair is waaaay to thick to jam up into a helmet.

Take a long elastic (the thin kind you would use as a headband). Make a ponytail, then take the long elastic and keep looping it and pulling your hair through (but sort of pull down each loop). It keeps your hair from becoming a tangled mess and it pulls it up. Then at the end, wrap up the tail with a regular head band.

It will kind of look like this but without the leather:

Letting my hair in the breeze was great when I tried it, but trying to detangle the knoted mess was awful. I was about ready to cut my hair short it was so bad till beth taught me that trick!

My hair gets cut short in the summer!!

I prefer longer hair, but I get it shoulder length in the summer months just for motorcycle riding! It's one less thing for me to mess with and I can throw on my helmet, ready to go quick..... as I then wait for another girl to "fix" her hair to go in her helmet haha

I usually just braid mine and it works. But, I have some layers in my hair so I do have to use a couple pony tails...

I have issues with my hair turning into a hot mess after I ride too. I try braiding it, but the layers I have don't all go into the braid so I just have to use the flat clips that snap close, and plenty of hair spray. ;)

My methods were dreadlocks (on purpose) and then short hair. :p

An acquaintance with long, thick hair recommended a wicking cap like this:

She tucks all of her hair up underneath it.

Spray in conditioners can help a little as well. Braid, and if you have layers, use multiple bands along the braid to hold things together.

I use one of these, I've got alot of layers so the braids and the lots of bands dont work for me. I use it on the road and on the track, i've got a longer one, so just the ends of my hair stick out.
