good question. this is a ccs policy, not stt... i'm *guessing* that this will not change this year, and instead of paying $35 and getting $30 back, you'll pay 30, and get 30 back.

ccs does this because a lot of people use the stt days as race practice, and it's the only way to not have to force everyone to pack up and leave to insure that everyone has paid the gate fee for the weekend. people have abused this in the past, and it's hard to check everyone at ra because the facility is so freaking huge.

as one of the people who has had to personally explain, collect the money, and then give the refunds at the gate the past couple years, i realize this situation is not ideal, and i'd really love to see ccs reconsider.

Yes, the events that are right before a CCS weekend, one will still have to pay the CCS gate fee, and then get a refund upon leaving. It's either do it that way, or we have to have everyone clear the paddock when STT is done, and then the CCS people re-enter.

Ok, thanks, just wondering if that policy still stood.

I was prepared last year, though in '13 I handed over my lunch money and only had enough left to get a cookie. :jester:

    Thanks for making this change.

I'd much rather have the gate fee rolled into the track day cost than be hit at the gate.

Gingerman still charged my wife and I the gate fee :frusty:. Glad my whole family decided not to come out after I had been talking up the 'no gate fee' all week. Guy at sign in said he didnt know anything about it and had been taking it all day.
Its too bad being gman is the only track I ride that was supposedly on the 'no gate fee' list. Glad I had cash on me.

Maybe it would be easier to just post the presumably small list of tracks that now have the gate fee rolled into the registration.
I wrongfully assumed the $5 gate fee at gingerman was rolled in being the cost of the day went up $5.

Its in the very first post (list of tracks and note that some tracks may still charge). At Barber neither my friends or I were charged.

Did Putnam Park ever get resolved or are the gate fees still in effect?

I understand, in part to the gate fee. Here is where it stops. Grattan in 2014 had a $ 5.00 per person gate fee. Along comes 2015 and the gate fee is now $10.00 Hold on a minute. Let's do the math people. Double the amount in one season? 100% increase. Com'on. Did the track owner's expense go up 100%? Think not.

Some maybe saying, "Com'on Rotax, it's only 5 more bucks". True, and it is not going to break my bank account. It's the amount of increase that is all wrong.
Example: Track owner takes in 8,000 in 2014. Same amount of track entrance persons in 2015 nets him 16,000. He gets a 100% increase for the same offering-----entrance to his track, nothing more.

Ask yourself this. When was the last time YOU had an increase in your salary of 100%?
Ok. I am now stepping away from the microphone.

    About the bathrooms and pavement...

I love grattan, but disagree with that logic. Keeping your facility up to date and in good shape is a normal part of buisness. This should be a part of buisness plan, not all of a sudden passing that cost onto customers. It could have been more subtle.

Overall though, gate fees don't bother me that much :p

Here's my take on it. If you have paid to participate at a track day, you (the rider) shouldn't have to pay a gate fee. Charging a fee for guests, I'm okay with that but it should be $5, not $10! I only pay it because I have no choice if I want to ride certain tracks but will also say that I intend to not visit the tracks that still charge gate fees as much next season. How is it that you can go to Barber, a premier track and facility, no gate fee and then go to Grattan, a fun track but not near as nice as Barber as far as everything else is concerned and pay $10? Oh well, that's life...
