I'm hoping to give racing a chance this year; Blackhawk farms is offering a race certification class for $125 next weekend. Can someone explain what the certification involves? Does this include any track time or is it simply a classroom to prepare the rider to race in the events?

It is a standard TD where you will be evaluated one on one to compete for WERA or CCS racing..

Our race cert program is a class that was approved by CCS and Wera. You will still be able to ride your sessions, but you'll have a couple of classes in between. Once you've obtained your certificate you'll be able to race.

Not sure about CCS, but if you will race with Wera, I suggest that you take the race license directly with them. It's $80 (instead of $125) and you can race the same day you get your race school.
The advantage of taking the license with STT might be that the coach following you for that day will be giving you tips on how to improve. Not sure about that though.

I have done both.... I would do a separate school outside the Race day.... DiSalvo,STT, Bargy, ect... Then have a much more relaxed first race day.... When you do the school on a race day your first day is jammed up till lunch... Then if you want to race in the afternoon that day or next day you can... But 25% of your race weekend will be school oriented... WERA did a great job... I just did it to join a friend who was doing it that weekend... I already had my cert...

I got my wera racing license years ago from Ed Bargy, but it was more like 300 bucks. Didn't realize it was cheaper now.
