Not to derail your thread, but I just thought I'd say that my wife bought one of the new FZ07's last July (street use only for her) and she absolutely Loves the bike.

No, we both have dedicated track bikes (600RRs). My FZ09 and her FZ07 are our street bikes. You gonna race the FZ07 I guess?

Yeah I'm thinking about it, hopefully it would be competitive in lightweight twins.
Anyone in S/E MI have one I can borrow to ascertain it's track-worthiness?
From the parts schematics I've seen the fuel tank looks like a nightmare with all the body panels attached, it hinges from the front correct? The frame looks kinda sketchy as well, I think the Schwinn I had as a paperboy was more stout. I guess that's how they keep the price down. :)

I've not had any reason to raise the tank, as she is running a stock bike. The tank does look like it hinges at the front, but the frame looks pretty substantial to me. One thing I will say about the bike, the fueling is very good from the factory, compared to the FZ09. I did the break in for her on the bike (about 600 miles of motoman style breakin) and for a 700cc twin, it's got some ass for sure.....and I weigh about 215 suited up in full gear. Of course the "scrotum" exhaust being removed would probably drop about 12- 13 lbs I guess and the rearsets would be a lot easier to change out than the FZ09 that requires removal of the swingarm pivot bolt.

I'm curious to see how it does against the sv650. If it's gets a big enough aftermarket I may consider it.

Joe currently we are working on a few other projects that will not allow us to make a one off rear set kit for a few months. Then there is the cost involved.

Keep us informed about how your new project is coming along:thumb:

You are going to be pleasantly surprised at the amount of grunt and power for a 700cc motorcycle (not an inline 4 of course) and the turn in and handling is phenomenal.....it's 397 lbs fueled and ready to ride.

I am already in love with my sv650 so I don't see why I wouldn't love the fz07, I think Yamaha did a great thing as Suzuki I think lost a lot of guys with the re-design. the fj-09 is awesome too! I love sport touring bikes so that's an awesome value they packed into that bike

too many bikes to buy and not enough money hahahaha

I hope you're right, from what I've read on the FZ07 forum pretty much everyone thinks the suspension sucks. Shouldn't be a problem though between Ohlins/Andreani/Penske.

Yea, I'm not saying that it would be just fine to track/race it with stock suspension, most bikes aren't. But, as you said, suspension components are becoming more and more available for the FZ07 and I am very impressed with it's agility stock.
