Just curious what everyone rides on or would be interested in trying? I've got a 08 Honda 600 and an 08 Ninja 250... love the ninja.. I've sampled an sv650, but I don't think it is for me. I would like to try playing on a gsxr 750 though.
I ride a Ninja 250 too. Love my bike!! Plan to upgrade my track bike next season, but my 250 will always be my street baby.
01 GSXR 750 track only 03 GSXR 750 street Looking to change the 03 for something more 'street friendly' though.
Haha.. Thanks to you boys for chiming in... in the girly thread. I just think its odd, at Roebling this year, all three girls were on Honda 600s... Last year two of my competitors were on gsxrs 600s (one who use to have a ninja 250). I only know of one girl that was on a 750 and one that races a duc 848. I was curious because WSS with wera allows up to A Superstock machines but probably 90% of females race on a 600. Is there a pattern? Don't get me wrong, I don't have much of a desire to get on a 1000, and don't think I would really be any faster... it just seems at a place like Road Atlanta or Nola it would offer a bigger advantage... atleast if you could feel comfortabke on one. *coughcough myerson100atweravirthispastweekend*

I had a 05 600RR and loved it, but also like my 08 Ducati 848 not because I feel like its more capable I just like having something different then most. (and the sound it makes doesn't hurt ether) I don't have any desire to get a 1000 so your not alone. I wouldn't mind trying the 1199 Pani just because it has so many gadgets. But what I would actually buy would be the soon to come 799/849/899 whichever it may be baby Pani which is in the works.
I ride an 05 R6, serves for both street and track. No real desire at all for a 1000... the idea of looping one scares me! I can't wheelie. My boyfriend has an 05 R1 (street only rider) and I'd ridden it on the street, but in all honesty I don't think I could ride it as well as my R6 if I wanted to push it, simply because I'd be too hesitant to twist the throttle as fast as I can on the 600. The power is cool as heck though!! I heard of a guy on a brand new zx10 at the track earlier this year when down the straight, his front wheel lifted up... apparently that scared him, he chopped the throttle, brought it down, went into a full wobble and was thrown. That story could be me if I got a 1000 and tried to ride it the same as my r6.
I need NEED a 125 to race... I will also settle for someone to give me a mori250... thanks. Sherry, you bring another question to mind... even with a quick turn throttle, I find one of my biggest challenges in picking up my lap times has come from the lack of desire to get on the throttle quickly. I will open the throttle, but I find I have to remind myself to mack sure I go to wide open... is that just me? Maybe so, but definitely a constant battle... (Side bar - this is a 600 exclusive issue, the 250 is either off or on, no modulating necessary) Hmm.. I wonder (race wise) what size bike gets looped more on the start... a friend of mine had a nasty start at a CCS race earlier this year.. she is still mending from that nasty moment.
I have the same "throttle issue" and every coach I've worked with says the same thing...get on the throttle! LOL I have to be constantly reminded.
Think this: there is a world of difference to just whacking the throttle (which you can get away with on a smaller bike.. on a bigger bike, not so much) and rolling on the throttle very quickly. It doesn't seem like much to the uninitiated.... but it's the small things that count. t
The 250 ain't little. He is a big boy! Even with the new addition of race gas, the torque is still... feeble... I should say, in comparision with a 600 throttle, the 250 feels like it only has an "on/off" switch. Ironically, I think this is one of the lessons I've learned that really always me to excel in racing the 250. Getting on the throttle quickly on the smaller bike will never compare with launching out of the corner on a 600. However, any bike is capable of dishing out more than I can chew if there is to much ego there!
