Get new tires. If you don't have time before the event, see Racer Cafe at the track. They will have what you need. 4 year old tires with 3500 miles is no way to start a track day. See you out there.

Just joined up for Monday - it'll be my first track day!
Hope to learn a few things and have some fun (and hopefully not crash spectacularly!). Seems like a great group to learn from.

Studying the course a bit- damn there's a lot of turns. ;)
Any other tips or suggestions? Things I'll forget to bring? (gear, gas, tools, hydration, ?)

    Looking forward to it...

    Steve

Get all your basics and don't forget your gear bag like I did the last time STT was at ACC(thankfully I only live 50 mins away.) Minor stuff forgotten can be overcome as I am sure somebody out there will be happy to share with you.

I stopped by Racer Cafe with my bike and had them check out my tires, forgot his name, but he said they will last a full day if not two.

No, he never asked how old they were. At 38-40 psi they seem very sticky on the street, I have been pretty ballsy with them out on the back roads. You guys think I should really get new tires even if I'm in novice? Not sure if I have that much extra money :(

40psi, 4 year old tires, 3500 miles, OEM rubber to boot... Umm yeah, what's more expensive, a set of tires, or crashing and needing new gloves, helmet, leathers, rearsets, clipons, body work, etc etc....

PS: I've already answered this question through trial and error. Do yourself a favor and buy a set of tires.

I have a used set of GPA's that I did two track days on. I went to slicks... $50 if you want them. I won't be at ACC until Sunday.
