I have a buddy who would love to attend but he doesn't have a bike. Is there anyone out there willing to lend or borrow a 250 or 600? Please pm me. A little about him he's been riding 10+ years and is over the age of 40 so he's somewhat responsible

Is there a camping fee? I noticed on Autobahn's website they have a few discounts for lodging as well. If I stay at a hotel and leave our trailer/bikes, do we have to pay the camping fee to leave everything there overnight?

First ever trackday at autobahn for me on the 4/29!

Have a few questions.. Hopefully someone can help.

    Has anyone ever rented leathers?

For the novice group do I need to run a specific coolant?

I can't help you with the rented leathers part. But for specific coolant, no. If you like, you can change it out, as there are preferred coolants that are required as you move up levels, but not for Novice. Here's link to what to expect and what is expected of you: https://www.sportbiketracktime.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=11

No extra charge to leave your stuff there if you plan to stay at a hotel, only if you sleep inside the facility.

And all your stuff will be fine in the paddock :D

Signed up last night, first time with STT and first time at ACC with a bike. Hope to meet up with some other noobs as this is only my second track day. how many people are normally in each group? I heard there is much smaller group sizes with STT.

You should have a blast! It's been a while since I did South - They'll usually break the novice session it into groups of 5 for the first half of the day, though I'm not sure what the max is for South. I found this to be useful as it gives you some more one on one time with a coach than if you go out in a huge group. Plus it makes it a lot easier for you to talk to a coach if you need help.

And don't worry, there will be plenty of noobs in the same shoes as you :)

I may come out this Friday to watch, but won't be able to ride!

Thanks for the info! Is novice still a pretty quick pace? My last track day after the second session they were ready to move me to the intermediate group but I am only on a 300, so I stuck with novice for the day after they said I could start passing in the turns as long as there was a big space cushion. Its a hard spot being on a small bike because your normally holding more corner speed to go around the bigger bikes but always in the way when they power out of the corner.

Edit: Anyone in the Schaumburg/Elgin area or going through have an empty spot on their trailer? It is a 90 minute drive and would be great to split the cost/drive with somebody. Will be a rough ride home.

There are two guys here who are from Elgin/West/East Dundee area, I forget their names entirely by now, but one of them has a new gen 636, the other I think has a GSXR. I'm not sure if they'll show up here or not. You might have some luck reaching out to some of the Wisconsin guys and meeting at the Des Plaines Oasis or something. Do you have a tow vehicle by chance?

As far as the pace, it can be fast if you want it to be. From my observation, the skill level in a single novice session tends to vary quite a bit; but in general, usually the guys who run in the first two to three groups in Novice are looking for a bump to I.

As for you on the 300, I know the struggle you face with the passing rules. Grab a coach to evaluate you for a bump to Intermediate. Passing and being passed is important to your growth on a small bike! That said, there are usually a few guys in Intermediate on 250's, so it should keep things fun! I'll let you know later on this season if I bring my 250, too.

These are just my observations/own experience - If all else fails, talk to a coach or other staff, they've always been super helpful and provide good insight.

Thanks for the insight, I hope to see a few on 250/300's to see how others do on the small bikes. If the unknown riders in my area are on the forum, let me know if you want to meet up for the ride down. Sadly I don't have anything with a hitch though.

Any sources of where I can rent a bike for my brother-in law so he can sign up for Autobahn on the 29th (tomorrow yikes)? He's brought all his riding gear.
