I'm looking to go to my first track day the first weekend in June at Barber, and i am not entirely certain what what details i need to iron out. I'm aware of ensuring my bike is mechanically sound and that all of the lights are disconnected and taped up, so my question is primarily gear related. I've got a mesh/armor jacket (joe rocket phoenix ion), padded gloves that fit just over the cuffs of said jacket, and BMW Motorrad boots, and my helmet is an RPHA-11. I plan on ordering the mating pants to the jacket, but I don't know what else i may need. Can anyone provide any insight into the novice realm?
www.sportbiketracktime.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=11 Everything you need to know about bike prep and gear. If you want someone to pit with.... shoot me a PM. I have a few guys pitting with me in Novice, Intermediate, and advance levels.... A couple of the Novice guys have never been to this track either. Gonna be an outstanding time!
You picked the best or worst place to do your first outing. Best in as far as there is no nicer track in the USA I know of. Worst as you will never find a nicer track in the USA.. Just did my first weekend there. WOW.. Plan on having time for the museum. And NO the gloves won't cut it. Post up your size, good chance someone can load you some. Might check STG and New Enough not to mention the classifieds here. Welcome to the maddness, hope your day will be as nice or better than mine if no rain. Report back, love to here what you think.
Sorry Chris.....Those wont cut it. If you cant find something in time, let me know. I always bring extra gear with me and I have an extra set of gauntlet gloves you are more than welcome to use (if you wear the same size glove).
Probably a good idea ....as I wear a M. Just remember.....if you ever go down, the first thing that naturally happens is your hands want to go out. Just what the body does to protect itself..... Buy to protect....not to save a shiney nickle or look flashy. Let me know if you need any help.... We're all here to do the same thing. Look fast for the camera.
unfortunate news friend... the Mrs. and I have run into an issue with a former roommate. We rented our house to a college student who we're now having to get legal help evicting. Lawyers aren't cheap, and we're consulting with one Tuesday. in the event that this gets drawn out, i'll have to sit on whatever funds i can. I'm sorry to break the bad news, but i won't be making it to barber on the 3rd.
Being that I'm an attorney, and have gear to sell (posted in classifieds) I might can help on both ends. What state are you in?
