Hey all so excited to be heading down to Barber for the first time with some buddies from NWA area. Have a few questions since this will be our first time. Heading up Fri. planning on riding Sat. and hit museum Sun. Leaving Monday . Full weekend! We are planning on tent camping . Since it is a sold out weekend just wanted to make sure there were plenty of spots avavailble to pitch tents. There will be 6 of us with 6 tents and 3 car/ trailers set-ups. Track day Sat - are there covered paddock or would it be wise to bring 10x10 pop up canopy for the pit? Leaving Mon. Would it be an issue to stay / camp on Sun night and leave Mon? Want to take our time at the museum and a few of us are riding sun as well. Any other feedback for first timers is appreciated . Thanks all ...and oh did mention Barber has been on the bucket list for some time now . Can't wait
Read this, Trevor the southern director puts one of these out for each track event they host down south. This one is from September but should be similar. http://www.sttforum.com/index.php?threads/facts-for-barber-motorsports-park-september-2-4.19190/ I believe camping is $35 but not sure as I sleep in my van, definitely bring a pop up tent and lots of water in case it's hot. Water water water, I believe people crash on a regular basis from becoming dehydrated. If it's hot I drink at least half a case per day if not more.
Since STT is also running a track day on Monday I can't picture staying Sunday night being a problem but that's not my call. Show up with proper gear and bikes with decent tires, brakes and no oil leaks and you will have the time of your life! I may be there that weekend also. Steve
It could be quite warm and sunny (we hope), so bring a canopy if you have one. This is a Saturday, Sunday and Monday track event, so you are welcome to camp, hang out, or even ride more then just Saturday. Once you have a wrist band, you can go in and out of track area as you like. Plenty room in the paddock to camp, but electric is available only in certain areas, so if you need it maybe bring a generator if you have one.
Plenty of room to camp in the paddock; no covered spots popups are a must. Power may be an issue if you need it.
Don't be shy either, introduce yourself. Nicest group people you're going to meet. If I make it down drop by for a Canadian beer. Cheers! Steve
We will be there rain or shine just hope Nate doesn't hit that hard. In for the beer for sure! Thanks One other question maybe someone can answer . One of the peeps in our group has his dad coming up to watch. Assuming there are bleachers for spectating right? Btw- we will be the group with the Gatorade and Pepsi pop up canopys stop thanks all!
Sorry for all the questions - If we come in on Fri night can we leave our canopy / set up in the paddock leave our gear etc.? Or do we have to wait until Sat morning ? Staying offsite so will be leaving after setup . Open to suggestions thanks
Yes, no problem with the canopy, etc. Just make sure you tie everything down good in case of wind, etc.
Bring a foam mattress or air mattress if you camp. There aren't any spots in the paddock to camp on the grass and is highly uncomfortable to camp on the asphalt. Ask me how I know.
Any update if your going or not? I am headed down with my buddy for the 3 days. His first trip down to Barber so that will be fun.
I guarantee that you will have a great time. The track is a dream and the people there are wonderful. It will spoil you.
