Hey yall! Just seeing how the new pavement was this past weekend! Planning a Barber trip this fall and I've heard so many awesome things about Barber and just curious what everyone thought of the repave.

The new surface changed a LOT.

    my impressions:
    - It's got all kinds of grip that you can feel. Amazing. I think it directly contributed to the lower crash count.
    - It's so smooth you hardly know when you put a puck down.
    - It is effecting tires in a weird way...I ate up a set of Pirelli's one day, and a set of Michelin slicks the second day. The third day a set of Michelin DOT Race did pretty good. Several had good luck with Dunlop Medium ++. A lot of this may have to do with the brutal heat - 97 no wind all sun. It ate front tires almost as bad as rear tires. You had grip, but you could feel the front slip and regain traction when trail braking hard.
    - Apparently, this kind of wear seems to happen when new asphalt is applied, and over a few months time the effect lessens.

    I give it a 10 :)

That's interesting, and makes Tally sound not-so-bad regarding killing tires. LOL
