This is my second year doing track days and to make sure weather doesn't mess up a weekend this season I've bought a second set of wheels and mounted rain tires. My question is this: When swapping wheels should you also swap brake pads to a set that has already bedded to the the rotors on the spare wheels? I wouldn't think it would take but a lap to the get the pads happy from one set of rotors to another, but I also suspect running the same set of pads might increase rotor/pad wear.

    Thanks!

    Don’t worry about changing pads.
Just throw on the rains & go.

I own 3 sets of rims. One for rains & two for slicks & never bothered switching pads.

BTW Don’t ride in the rain at Grattan or Mid-Ohio. Slippery is an understatement at those 2 tracks in the rain.

    Have fun.

Thanks! That is the answer I was hoping for.

Mid Ohio and Grattan are bit north for me now, but but I appreciate the caution. I'm planning on NCM, Talladega and a run up to Puttnam so any similar cautions would be appreciated.

Tally is supposed to have great traction wet or dry. NCM (national corvette museum) is fairly new so I imagine it has very good traction also.
    I’ve never ridden Putnam.

I’ve you’re going south to ride Tally you really need to hit Barber sometime. Awesome track & great museum. I drive down from Canada to ride it.

No need to change pads - until they need changing. It is recommended to, at a minimum, clean all the rotors with non-chlorinated brake cleaner when you do - and bed them properly. You will love NCM it's an awesome track - just remember, there are a couple of blind spots (and a turn named 'Deception' - for a reason) so take it slow the first couple of laps to find the correct line and brake markers
