Does anyone have the stock setting specs for 07 r6

I bought mine from a 200 pounder it seems, the damn preload was all the way in. even after taking it all out, it looks like i have about 25mm of sag, i weigh 130lbs

but on the bright side, if & when i get good, it'll be a fast r6, specially with my full sys akra

So i am now playing with compression & rebound. it all makes sense once you take the time to read up about it, the difference between knowing what it's called & understanding it. but would still like to talk to the DOS guy.

Unfortunately there are no such thing as “stock settings†or my other favorite term I hear “I set them in the middleâ€. Man that cracks me up.

The way the bikes come from the factory is not set up at all. They are just where they are. And 99 times out of 100 they are incredibly far from being set up even close to right. And setting them up in the “middle†doesn’t do a thing for you. There is no middle. People assume that if you have 10 clicks of adjustment and you put it at 5 clicks then you have put it in the middle, and the middle means average, or good. Right? Wrong. A quick and easy example of there being no middle is a 2007 GSXR1000 fork. I think the rebound adjuster has 18 or 20 clicks or something like that. If you set it at 9 clicks out you are in the middle of the adjustment range right? Well yes, you are in the middle of the clicks. But the rebound needle is so bad on those forks that once you get it two clicks off of fully closed it is effectively wide open. Which means everything between 3 and 18 clicks is exactly the same, no rebound dampening. “Middle†for those GSXR forks is actually 1 turn out from max. And I think they come out of the crate set at 7-10 clicks or something like that, which is wide open for that adjuster.

Can you see how there is no such thing as a “factory setting†or a “middle†to the adjusters? Trying to set a suspension up using the “factory setting†or “middle†method is like throwing darts at a dart board….that is behind you.

I saw your email and I am just about to answer it, I figured I would let everyone else know this info too.

    Hey Jason,
I am sure it has been said before, but let me say it again.

    You know your shit

Have you considered writing a book similar to:

"Sportbike Suspension Tuning" by Andrew Trevitt

Ps. I've started eating a lot hoping to add about 10 - 15 lbs :D

Actually I have thought about it. I just can’t seem to sit down and get it all out though. And every time I do sit down to do it I write something, then realize that I need to explain more stuff so what I just wrote makes sense, etc. Then again, and again, an again……

If I did a book it would be massive. Every question about suspension leads to more. There is no “end pointâ€. Maybe someday I will just sit down and rock it out. I write stuff all the time and I frequently stay up for 24-48 hours at a time writing when something comes to me. I have just not had the urge to do that with a suspension guide. I am currently working on a novel. That is where all my attention is at right now.

    Thanks for the props though!

Perhaps you need a co-author (assistant),

    you write novels?

I can almost imagine the plot:

    :D

"there was this hot chick, she was one hell of a racer, one day she rode a bike that had a proper suspension setup, it was like a match made in heaven, the compression was right, damping perfect, afterall she liked push & pull a lot. given the intense chemistry one thing lead to another............"

but seriously man, very few books are out there for explaining things.
keith code set the precedence with his twisted books & i like Trevitt's book for basics of suspension, after which you are on your own. (here's a pair of chop sticks, good luck with the soup bowl)
