Last I knew a bike was classified based upon its frame. If I have a 2005 R6 and put a 2008 R6 engine in it, I don't call it a 2008 R6. Interesting.
What would you call an 08 gsxr 600 frame with an 08 gsxr 750 motor in it? Would it still be a 600? Would you tell people that you beat them in a race on your 08 600 even though it had a 750 motor?
Also, 06-10 gsxr 600/750 frames are practically identical except for the rectifier mounting holes. This bike had 08 rims until sunday when i sold an 08 750 and i put those rims on it. And theres no performance advantage or value in an 07 vs 08 frame. But you could argue that there are performance/advantages in an '08 motor, electronics and the look of the '08 is more desirable. This bike is 90% '08.
I must confess, back in ' 94 when i started racing...i put an 1100 motor in my ' 92 gsxr 750 and raced it in the 750 classes. You werent allowed to race over 750cc as a novice back in the day. Im pretty sure that bike would not have been classed as a 750 if they knew that big motor was in there, even though the frame showed 750. In short, TLR67 is correct. Lol
Sooooo, you're interested in this '08 600? I have a few penskes for it, some traxxion revalved forks and a set of AK gassers too. And im not selling you my titled '12 600, or my titled 07 1000, or my titled 11 750 or my titled 13 harley night rod special....so dont ask.
Couple pics with the exhaust and case savers on. Iphone camera is about shot...sorry about that. Did I mention only 3800 miles....400 track miles, maybe.
That was the buy it now price on Crashedtoys.com. I tried to get it for less but another bidder was hot for the bike, matching me $C for $C. At $1900 I just went all in and hit the buy button.
Copart bought crashedtoys about a year ago...I've been on auction sites for awhile now. The salvage market has gone through the roof with prices the past few years. It's hard to find a decent bike with minimal damage at a good price. There's an 07 750 locally for $1400, but about the only thing that might be good on it is the motor and rear sprocket.
