Hey guys I am looking at purchasing a suit for this season. I am wondering what the pro's and con's of both one piece and two piece suits are. Every time I try to look up an article about this topic, all I can find are long winded advertisements posing as reviews. So I figured it was time I asked the experts. Also any brand recommendations would also be appreciated. :)

    1. Assuming you are talking about track riding get a one piece. No advantage to a two piece on the track.

    2. Assuming you want a quality item forego all that Alpinestars jive and buy an RS Taichi.

    You're welcome.

The benefit to the two pc. Is you can get the jacket off between sessions. Yes you can get out of the one pc and let it hang not as comfortable like that. It's really about what your going to do with it. You ride some track and street 2 pc is good all track 1 pc is better protection.

2-piece if it will also be used on the street. One piece for track exclusive duty. My one piece is more comfortable than my two piece was in full tuck, because there is no waist band. If you go two piece make sure it has a full circumference zipper.

I wish we could still get the Hein Gerike suits. My next suit will hopefully be a custom fit Pilot suit.

Since I have a bad shoulder, two piece is the only way to go for me. It boils down to what you like and can live with, just get a quality suit.

I got a two piece custom Pilot and it is nice to be able to take the jacket off between sessions. Especially on hot days.

Aside from track vs. street riding it's also going to come down to price-point. If you've got $600+ to spend you pretty much can't go wrong with any brand. Personally, I feel more comfortable and secure in a 1pc vs. a 2pc. And if I can have one less thing on my mind out there then I'll do what it takes to achieve that.

If it's possible you'll want to hit up a moto store with a couple different suits to choose from and try them on. Get on a bike so you can see how they feel in a race tuck.

This store is almost always running a deal on top performance suits so give'em a look and even call/email if you need to. They sell what they use and give recommendations based on real world experience, really a top tier business in the world of gear.

To sort of touch on some of what the others have said, it is going to depend on what you want out of it. Are you doing only track riding or is it going to be for the street and track? Also, what kind of price point are you looking to stay around?

I have always been and always will be a fan of the one piece suit for track use, I have seen a two piece separate on the track and cause some major damage... I understand that it may be more comfortable to be able to take off the top part of the suit when walking around, etc., however, have never had an issue with pulling the top of my one piece around my shoulders and zipping it up a little around my waist and letting it hang. I would prefer to do this any day, but this is me.

As far as pricing goes, this will have a major impact on what I would recommend. Obviously, the more you spend in certain cases, the more comfort features, leather quality and perforation you will receive. However, we have a ton of closeout suits at all times. This means that you could pick up a $1,000+ suit for much less.

If possible, as I am unsure where you are located, try to make it up to our shop and we can get you fitted properly and give you some different options right in the showroom.

I hope this helps a little and if I can offer any more assistance, please email me at Aubrey@Sportbiketrackgear.com.

Hey guys thanks for the tips and advice. I'm looking to wear said suit on the street as well, but as aubreyr6 stated, if a two piece does somehow come apart on the track it can cause incredible damage. Aubreyr6, looks like ill have to pick a day off and stop by your guys store. Thanks again!
