I have browsed the site over for several hours tonight and found a lot of info, but I also have a few questions. For novice nothing on the bike is manditory safety wired, correct? I read it wasn't needed tonight, but earlier today I picked up some water wetter. I need to change out the coolant anyway so I might as well be compliant if I move up out of novice anytime soon. I will be on a DRZ 400SM. I need a little info on gearing. I am currently running stock rear and a 16T front, +1 tooth. I have the larger pumper carb and a full yosh pipe with a filter on it too. I have all my leather I need, except for boots. I ride in my Justin boots around home. Do I need to buy other boots for the thrack day? I haven't read it yet, but I assume the kick stand will have to be removed. The switch is already disabled.....along with the clutch swithch too. I don't have mirrors so that is covered. Tape over the head light, and unplug it, tail light, and all other plastic lenses. Brakes are good and tires are good. What else to pass tech? How many miles or laps is a normal day? Looking for a guess at how much fuel I should bring. My fuel range sucks with the pumper carb. I guess the throttle shouldn't be as much as on or off, every instant doesn't have to be WOT.
Your bike should be good tally on that you might get just a tick over 100mph. You dont have to remove your side stand for novice. Rules http://www.sportbiketracktime.biz/Polices.aspx
I read that earlier and the part about center stands made me think of the kick stands. I just assumed they would have to go. I guess I have read a lot of other post on forums about catch cans and what and how to wire for my first day that I shouldn't worry about then.
And remember Water wetter freezes. If you are going to continue to ride in the winter make sure you keep the bike in a warm place
Although if the turn signals and mirrors are easy to remove, it isn't a bad idea to do so. Just incase of an oops moment on the track.
I am good to go then. No signals or mirrors on it. I think case savers might be a good idea for the bike and I should be set. How much fuel do most people bring? I am getting about 60 miles before reserve of hard riding at Deals Gap. I guess I am all in the squirt going from full throttle to brakes and then back there though. Just not sure how many sessions or laps I should plan for.
I am trying to get a list up early so I don't leave anything off. What kind of tape do you put on your glass and plastic too? Duct tape, or are there better things? So far I am looking at hand tools lube for chain oil and fuel levers if I have them, don't plan on buying spare ones? air guage and tank spare helmet tie wraps food and water MX stand for working chairs
Search the forum for the list of things you can bring. Painters tape or duck tape will work. Bring plenty of water and I mean plenty
