    Hello all,

I was hoping I could get some feedback on this from someone with experience. I purchased a mid-pipe for my 08 R6 and wanted to see if anyone else has done the same thing. I have read positives and negatives on doing this. I do not have a power commander but talked to a Yamaha mechanic and he said that after installing the mid-pipe the bike would adjust to it to a certain extent. I have also heard that it could mess up the low and mid- range due to the stock system just not being able to adjust to the improved exhaust flow. So now I am wondering if I should just leave the cat in until I get a power commander.

    Thanks

It won't hurt anything as the bike's ECU will adjust to the increased airflow, but you may notice the powerband to be a little more top-heavy, aka not as much "grunt" down low. For track use it would be a welcome change b/c the bike largely stays "spun up" on the race track anyway. However, you may notice it in street riding in situations like rolling away from a stop light or carrying a passenger.

I've done this on my 06 the only problem was a rough idle when the engines cold. I added a power commander, that solved that problem but you can get by without.

Thanks for the response guys. I really appreciate it. I emailed the guy I purchased the mid-pipe from and he basically confirmed what you guys stated. He said it would affect it from a dead stop ( low end torque ) and at below 5k rpm. But at the track we are always above 5k. I will be at Barber March 13th and think I will leave it stock until I get back then do the deal and look to getting a power commander.

    Thanks again,

    Brad

Have you tested it out yet? I'm curious as well and have heard good and bad about the test pipes.

Okay..... So I have my Midpipe installed and the exhaust hooked backed up.

    Here is my setup:

    2008 Yamaha R6

    PCIII with O2 sensor module
    Stock Header
    Stock Muffler with EXUP
O2 sensor is installed on Midpipe
    Stock Air filter / box

I am looking for a MAP to work with this setup. I have been out to some of the R6 forums but have not come across a map for this setup exactly. Does anybody have one for this setup?

I would appreciate some help whether it is a map or link to a site or forum with a map for this setup. Thanks !
