Since WERA cancelled this weekend at Summit Point, I thought I'd remind everyone that CCS is racing at VIR, including the final round of the USGPRU series, and the AMA Road Race Grand Championships. You don't need a CCS license to enter the AMA classes, just your WERA license and an AMA Membership* *Membership IS NOT an AMA Pro License. If you have an AMA Pro License, you are NOT eligible for the AMA RRGC unless you are an AMA Pro SuperSport rider with NO POINTS.
Did they change the rule from last year? I was not permitted to participate in the AMA classes because I had a Pro License, even though I had no points.
It's only if you have points. Or so I was told... We had a few guys with AMA licenses due to being cheaper than the crew passes... They raced before with zero issue.
Last year you could race if you had a Pro license but had not entered any races (crew pass thing) and I believe that's still the case. Derrick they did change the rule, I heard about it a week or so ago - allowing SuperSport riders who have no points in the AMA classes. (I can't remember which license you had?) SportBike, and SuperBike riders who have raced at all are not eligible. I'll be checking entry lists and points and crushing dreams again, but hopefully people are aware of the rule. I hated having to do that to you last year.
Also - CCS just announced this: "Those new to CCS racing can get a "One-Event" temporary license FREE if you enter at least one AMA Road Race Grand Championship race. Otherwise a regular CCS license is $60."
Results of the AMA special awards: Arnie Hastings won Vet/Senior Road Racer of the Year Tommy Wilson won Novice Road Racer of the Year, which was a close contest with Tristan Avery Anthony Mazziotto got the Youth Road Racer of the Year award with Palmer Kling as the runner-up ... and the 2013 AMA Horizon Award went to Ian Tetrick.
