I had come up with this idea, told a couple buddies and they did it, worked, and claimed it... but NOOOO it was my idea.

(ben rankin sucks - 558 novice instructor!)

    anyway,

    Supplies:
-Window unit AC (that everyone has laying around somewhere)
-spackle or dry wall mud pan, whatever they are called
    -dryer hose
-the good aluminum foil type tape for heating and cooling purposes
    -some insulation board
    -some silicone or sealer

-I clipped the corners and flanged the spackle pan and screwed it with little metal screws over the vent from the unit.

    - got a couple inch hole saw and cut a hole in the end of the spackle pan

-taped the dryer hose over the end

-put some insulation board around the spackle pan so it doesn't "sweat" so much

-cover it all in that tape for a good tight seal and added silicone wherever I felt air coming out

-cut a hole in the bottom of the trailer (going to put the wooden circle on a henge so it can just rotate open and closed)

    - dryer hose goes up the hole and you have an AC in your trailer

Not the best way, but I didn't feel like bracing the roof of my trailer.

Total cost (minus the window unit): $32.00 and about 1 hour of my time

    Winston,
How do you seal up the floor when towing the trailer...or do you even worry about it? I see you're going to put a hinge cover on, but is it going to have any kind of gasket or anything? I got a portable unit that I have to vent the exhaust. Was thinking about putting in some kind of window to use, but had also thought about doing the floor thing.

No not gonna do a gasket unless a problem arises. I just finished insulating the roof, i turned the AC on for 30minutes and it was about 80-85 degrees in the shop, trailer was down to 75 I would have to guess. I think it will get plenty cold at night!

Non taken at all, I actually have a roof mount AC too, but I found out I would have had to brace the roof by welding more supports in. Which I can weld, I just didn't feel like going through that much work, plus this is kinda cool and yes ghetto, but I did it myself, so :p
