Like an LED just a little different groups.

    From the STT site:
ALL-in-TWO(tm) is our new two-group format which accommodates all three skill levels, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. Two groups are available, Sport & Supersport.
Sport: Novice and low to mid level Intermediates. This group will still have classroom sessions for Novice riders and Track Coaches but the on-track format will be less restrictive.
Supersport: Mid to upper Intermediates and Advanced. Each group receives 30-minutes of track time each hour. This is a great way to maximize your track time.
Passing Rules: Sport Group: Straights and outside of turns with a six-foot safety zone.
Supersport Group: Safe passing allowed anyplace on the track with a six-foot safety zone.
ALL IN TWO FORMAT IS A MORE OPEN FORMAT THEN THE TRADITIONAL STT THREE GROUP NOVICE FORMAT. IT MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR THE RIDER WHO MAY BE DOING THEIR FIRST TRACK DAY...

I like the idea of the format, but I think I'm on the cusp being a mid-level intermediate. I have only been to Mid-O once as a novice, so I'm leaning towards the Sport group. Although, I would really like to run with the fast guys. :D

You gotta be comfortable at high speeds and close (inside) passing. You have to be able to hold a clean line(no multi steering in a single steer corner for example) and be consistent. Riding fast is part of the consideration, but it's not the biggest.

We had 125's at Road America in the advanced group last May. Obviously, they weren't the fastest due to HP limits.

The high speeds and close passing don't bother me, but I feel I could be more consistant with my lines. That's why I will probably sign up for the Sport group. And, I don't know Mid-Ohio as well as I do Grattan. But, I always like to try to follow someone faster than me, whether they are a coach, or another rider. That is when I seem to be the most consistant with my lines.

Sounds like someone could use some more reference points.

Dennis took the words right from my keyboard. K3 (track coach) says the best phrase for this issue. "I can tow you to a track record". Instead consider your first 2 or 3 sessions as learning sessions. Don't worry about how fast you are going because you are going to get passed.....ALOT!

Statr by building 2 reference points for each corner. One for when to brake(1) and one for when to be off the brake, starting your turn, and being on the gas(2-you are doing 3 things at the second RP...get it?). You can adjust the points as needed until you reach a comfortable, consistent, and more than likely faster line. By the end of the day YOU will be passing those that didn't build RP's because they have no idea how deep they can brake, where to turn for the best end result...etc

Get with a coach to help you and he/she can give you some RP's to start with to speed things along

I hear you on being towed. I thought to myself, if I were a racer, the best I could ever achieve would be 2nd place!

Being a newer track rider, I feel my progress has been very good. And that would be a direct effect of the track coaches. Whether it is good advice on the track or forum, you guys have always helped. Personally, I won’t be towed for much longer by other riders. But, when another rider is faster than me, I would like to see what he/she is doing that I should be doing. My last time on the track, Justin showed me several good reference points. And that helped take several seconds off my best time. My consistency was better and my confidence was off the chart. It was the best time I have had on the track to date, and it lasted just two sessions. I had mechanical issues and the day ended sooner than I wanted. I’ll be back a Grattan in July, and I’ll take the first 2 or 3 sessions to get my reference points down again. Then, I’ll grab a coach and have he/she follow me, and see how I’m doing.

So you know, I’m not looking to be the fastest rider on the track, I just want to become a good solid advanced rider. And I’m not shy when it comes to asking help from the coaches. You guys have helped me tremendously, and I will always continue to ask for help.

well I got it now, just thought after being chastised that I would point out that the descriptions should be at the top of the schedule for easy access.
