hey everyone, well now that i have bought my track bike the next thing i need to buy is a new suit, I'm looking for some input on these two suits: 1). http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=12994 2). http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=18880 Thanks in advance!!
I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Both are top quality gear. Call and talk to Brian Van at STG or any one of the staff there. It may be a matter of your body type that best selects the suit for you.
Well I've never had a chance to try any A*s high end stuff, but I've never been impressed with their more reasonable offerings. I absolutely LOVE all of my RS Taichi. It's almost a sickness over here. Taichi umbrella in the paddock? Yes sir.
I crashed in a A* and it held up well and wasn't near that expensive my new suit is a predassor to that one. But call stt and ask what would fit your body type best. A* tend to like tall and skinny. ps Get the best gloves u can after this pinky mess i have i won't wear gloves without a finger bridge.
hitch, you know my vote..... RS Taichi all the way but, with that said, if there was an Astar suit i would want to try.... it would be the Atem. good choice either way, go try them on at stg and then make a decision. taichi has the free glove offer going right now so that helps price wise. i wouldnt go all white though. get the black and white, then we can be twinkies. LOL! Ski
FWIW I lowsided in my GP-X S207 at Putnam and walked away without any significant damage to the suit, nevermind that I had no injuries either. Granted it was fairly low speed but man that suit held up great!
Another vote for RS Taichi. I tested my viper evo last June at grattan with awesome results. Minor damage to suit and no damage or soreness to me. STG has the free glove offer as stated above, it's a good deal. Regarding sizing, just ask the STG staff, they will put you in the right size suit in 10 questions or less )
To bad they no longer have the hein gerike suits. They are really good. I have to crashes on mine and still going strong.
Gotta agree with Greg and others on RS Taichi stuff. I currently have the suit in question and love it but I have not crashed in it yet. I've had their Japanese leather suit and about 5 pair of gloves, its all extraordinary gear. The Alpinestars suit appears to be an equal, although the Italian leather is probably better than the Brizilian leather. Brian Van would probably be the one to talk to about that.
I am sour about A*stars after some glove mishaps. Crashed my RS taichi gloves 6+ times this year at low speeds and they are still great. My vote would be for the RS taichi.
