I'll let you know how it works out. I am going to have a whole new bike to learn on Monday with Ohlins front and rear and new speigler brake lines. I'm actually kind of nervous about the brakes since I am so accustomed to the play in the OEM lines.
I have braided lines too, and they are pretty easy to get used to. I wouldnt worry about it too much.
in response to both chino and jeff the difference in suspension if u dont like ur set up is always worth the money ... i have stock r6r forks and shock on my r6s but with racetech internals (springs and seals) and it handles amazingly, i also have the steel lines with rjl vesrahs and it stops amazingly, im 220 with gear and also on a 600 and on the brakes is usually where i pass riders, lots of trail breaking through the corner, IMO(cause i chose a profession that doesnt pay well lol) full ohlins forks/shock is a bit overkill for I pace trackday riders but if u have the money im sure itll be worth it, getting my bike dialed in with eric from velocity calibrations and the 1.0 fork springs made a huge difference and gave me lots of confidence, again i only say this cause im broke but simply getting some springs for guys our weight, having the bike set up by ken or the suspension tech of ur choice and some steel lines will give you what you desire at the level we ride at with that said i will be in I group sat and maybe sun, ill look for you both cant wait
i wouldn't let ken touch my suspension again...but to each their own. as long as your suspension is setup for your weight you'll be fine. whether they're ohlins cartridges or oem, if you're fast you can stay competitive on OEM. and since were talking trackdays, you can keep up at the advanced pace no problem.
I've never said this was a pace issue...this is insurance and an investment to me. I am going to continue to learn and push myself to improve and would like to do so with a more stable bike under me. Are there other options or cheaper options than what I chose? No doubt. As far as Ken goes...you can have your opinion and I guess I will get to form mine after working with him. All I can know at this point is that a lot of people with more experience than me - riding and wrenching - trust him.
would if i wasnt working, pack up at ACC sunday, leave and get home and unpacked by abt 1-2am, work at 6am monday, oh am i gunna be pleasant
I have much less of a drive than you Samm, but I just found out today I have a 6am flight to NYC on Tues after riding Monday. Not looking forward to getting up at 4am after a day at the track...need to figure out this whole mega millions thing I keep hearing about.
