In a few weeks, I'll be getting a new set of leathers made for me- I should get them just in time for Barber. what is the best way to break in a new set of leathers? after the long winter off, I'll be stiff enough, without the added stiffness of new leathers. Just wondering what some of you have done to break-in a new suit? cheers, Lance
I've heard get in the shower with the water full hot and steaming but don't actually get the suit wet directly . Just bend and stretch for about 30 minutes while in there .
Put it on and run 5 miles. It will break it in plus add the sweat and funk of many summer track days!
but the best way to break it in is just to ride in it on a hot summer day... wear it around the house and just get comfortable... don't forget to wear your back protector when you do this
Ask the people who are making the suit what they recommend... I don't recommend the warm shower technique - it will remove oils within the leather and it would also be best to use a moisturizing leather conditioner afterwards. Wear it around the houes, jog in it, etc. Also, do several squats as they will really help with range of movement similar to turning...
Whatever you do, I think a moment of silence is in order in homage to the large number of animals that sacrificed their lives to make a suit for your abnormally huge body.
I tried that method last may. it didn't work out so good for me. HEY! I resemble that remark. :x K3 is getting a new suit this season, too!
Here's what it will look like: It's being made by Spyder Leatherworks. Alexa is only doing 20 suits this year (10 are in production, so far) for an unbelievable beta-tester price that's under $1500- for a full custom suit with all the bells and whistles. The catch is that the beta-testers are expected to provide extensive feedback. Next year she's going into full production, with prices that will be comparable to other premium manufacturers. If you're interested, call soon and mention my name. cheers, Lance
