Most of you on this forum would never have met Bill Ritger. Sadly, Bill passed away this evening after a bad run with liver cancer. He worked in the tower at CCS Midwest races, as the voice of Control that guided the efforts of the corner working staff. Bill was an outstanding friend and mentor to everyone who met him, and did as much for this sport as anyone I've ever known.

I can honestly say that I wouldn't be where I am in this sport today had I not met and been influienced by Bill. I'll miss him terribly.

Because you can never repay someone who'se been such a big part of your life, let me say this in his honor instead:

Take a minute to think about the amazing friends this sport has brought you, and think about how much your enjoymnet of life would suffer if you didn't know these folks. Give your buds a bear hug once in awhile, because you won't have them forever. In the end it's all about the love you've shared with your people.

Sorry about your loss, man. Nice words to remember him by, and send him off to the next place with kindness and grace.

I'm lucky to have friends like you.

    Chris,

I am sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Your words could not be more true! Always remember: So long as a man's name is spoken, he will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

I admit, I am not that poetic or introspective.. I stole that line from my grandmother.
