Break Pad help please

    hey people!
    Just spent the weekend in NOVICE and my breaks were 50/50 going in but now are time for replacing.
    I need advice.
    My breaks on my 675 are pretty nice, I like to break a bit later and need an understanding what pads May be best all around

    I am on STG and see many choices
    Organic Kevlar
    Sintered metal
    EPFA Road race
    H sintered
    Double H sintered
    CL A3
    CL C59


    Really, what the hell.... I think I have organic from before but what is the difference, what is best what should i buy. Very confused

    Best bet is to call STG, talk to Brian Van. Tell him where you ride, what tracks, how often and he will take care of you. Everyone has their preference. And asking opinions her will just spin you in circles.

    your going to get a few hundred different opinions. Personally I would suggest going to the RJL from Vesrah. They are a sintered metallic pad. Pretty reasonable in price as well.

    There are pads that have much greater stopping ability than those, but I suggest you work up as your speed gets faster

    The reality is that any of those pads will work just fine. You are going to get 100 different responses and reasons why "their" pad" works the best.

    First question: Do you still ride on the street? If so, a "race" compound pad may not be for you because they NEED heat to work best. Street riding may not allow them to heat up as much as needed, and they may feel a little soft or "wooden" and not offer max benefit. Once you get to the track they will be like a totally different pad however and that could cause a confidence issue. If you still use the bike as a street bike, i would honestly go to stock pads first if you don't have an issue with them.

    Personally, I use SBS Dual Carbon pads on my R6. I like them because they are best for my riding style. They are progressive and offer a lot of feel without feeling "grabby" like some other pads feel to me. On the down side, they feel like wood first time you use them in the morning and they are dirtier than most other pads and don't last as long.

    Vesrah also makes a good pad, the RJL and its off shoots. It is a race pad, and has a strong initial bite. By that I mean the pads grab hard initially and ease up some. They do offer a lot of feedback as you brake. Some people like these pads a LOT and they are great, I just don't care for the initial feeling.

    Sintered pads have bits of metal in them. They last longer, and fade less at higher temps. On the flip side, they tend to be louder and take longer to bed in. They are a little softer on the initial bite and hold heat a little better. That makes them work a little better in wet conditions.

    That is my $.02. I am guessing 99 other people are going to chime in as well. In the end, a lot of it is finding something you like, and sticking with that. I tried a lot of pads till I settled on the SBS. They all work well, really well, but I like them the best.
