typicqlly, there's always been camping the night before. Are all four of you fitting in the back of the Rover?
John & the pups can sleep in the truck if they want. Or they can join me in our palatial tent. Much better (as long as we're on high ground in case of a flash flood  ) I know there's always been available camping, just double-checking that nothing's changed. Don't want to arrive to a locked gate after a long drive. So, the official word is??
I just called Summit Point, and according to the lady that I spoke to, we can't get into the paddock until 7am Monday morning. I've emailed Monte and Dave to see if anything can be done about that, but it might be too late.
There always seems to be some sort of disconnect between the people you call at Summit and the nice, old guy that runs the gate. We always pull in around 9-10pm the night before with no hassle.
I spoke to Monte today. As of now there won't be camping Sunday night. Sorry gang. There's some cheap hotels/motels nearby in CharlesTown, WV though. :?
EDIT: Just talked to TPM since I'll be there with them on the 12th and 25th. They told me that the one day events typically don't offer the camping. Only when there are 2 day events is this allowed. :?:
Can anyone recommend a hotel in the Charlestown area? i've typically stayed in Winchester, but I'd rather be closer to the track and closer to the highway when getting there. Went to Summit's Website and didn't recognize any of the hotel names. Prices range from $50 to $125 a night. For that area, $125 better be the 4-Seasons
Rich, we've stayed a few times at the Quality Inn in Harper's Ferry. Plenty of trailer-friendly parking and the price was right. It's on the left side as you head south, at the top of the hill. We've stayed once at the Comfort Inn, which is a little bit further from the track, and the trailer parking is a little less roomy, but it may be cheaper. I'd stay at either again. I'll be at NHIS on Monday--it will hopefully be a veritable Skorpion fest. Skorpion fest=more than one. Chris
HEADS UP ALL- there is NO CAMPING at Summit Pt this Sunday night. When bikes race there on the weekend we can stay over to MOnday and camp. This weekend there are street cars and we can't camp. Gates open at 7 am, we need to leave by 7 PM. The restaurant is open from 11-2pm. We be on track from 9-5pm with an hour for lunch. This makes 7 sessions, 20 minutes each. See you there!
Charlestown Motor Inn. Relatively inexpensive and fairly close to the track. Its located across the road from the track, the horse track in town that is.    PS The reason Reduc was able to camp Sunday nights for a one day event was because Jean and Marco set it up as part of the track rental. Normal for the raceway is to lock the gate at 9 pm.
