I was in Grattan this weekend and had a great time again! Sunday wasn't so friendly though :( ...Just a quick question to anybody that might know, on the back stretch of straight...it happened a couple of times when I went down a gear or a couple of gears, and I let go of the clutch I heard and felt something chattering...now I know that Im supposed to rev-up before letting go of the clutch, which I did. Was it my rear tire doing that or something else? Just need some answer to keep it from happening again...tnx!

sounds like your rpm's aren't matching your tire speed and your getting some chatter or tire hop. Are you just letting the clutch go? or are you being smooth with the release? Are you on the Duc?

What I was told was told to just let the clutch go...right after the blip...what you said makes sense, maybe Im not reving it enough to synchronize the two...because it doesn't happen all the time, just twice on Saturday...Yes I was on the black 999...

    Thanks for your input...

The next time you are at the track go out in the back of the pack. Take some time practicing your technique. The fastest are usually the smoothest. A good example is STT coach Audrey Wicke. She is so smooth it almost looks she's not riding. Smooth equates to fast. See you at the track

Were you using the rear brake at the same time?

I would agree that the blip procedure probably wasn't as smooth as it could have been (it's not easy to master). Couple that with a bit of back brake and the bumps at the end of the main straight and you're looking at the rear wheel moving around on you.

Twins are harder to do the throttle blip than inline fours. I've done it with both. Once you master the twin a four is soooo easy. It'll take some time to get right. I still mess it up about 60% of the time. Once you get it, though, you'll be a stud, just like K3 teaches in class

Yeah next time I'll stay behind :) I was surprised one time when two riders passed me one inside and one outside on T5...I didn't see Audrey 'til Sunday, and that day I only went out once coz of the rain...She was my coach when I was in Novice, and she was great!

BTW Jesse, thanks for helping me there for a few laps. Yes, I think I was using front and rear brakes during that time...to slow me down for T1...Thanks to Kevin also!

I'll have to practice more...this time in Gingerman!
