Ok so new to track days getting ready to do my 4th one. But thinking of tracking out my 09 ZX6r.

What are the benefits of using aftermarket clip-ons? What brands should I consider and why?

I'm 5'11 with really long arms for my size any sort of rise I should look for?

Pros: Adjustability. Easy/fast to replace when you crash. Replacement bars are cheap.

    Cons: none

Some brands are adjustable. They let you rotate the bars. Renthal is one.

    Vortex, Driven...they're all fine.

Apex also makes them, just wanted to toss that brand into the mix.

Let me make it easy for you:

    Apex Mfg.

These allow you to adjust the angle of the clip-ons in several different ways. While you're at it since you will be going tot the track, I highly recommend getting the brake lever guard too.

I mean, if you'll be doing trackdays with STT just get the apex set. I was just at grattan, rounded off a few screw heads, ran over to the Apex trailer, and they gave me replacement screws, waved a hand at me told me to just take them.

If I ever go down, I know I will have support/replacements.

The other guys nailed the pros/cons

Depends on you and your preference also take a look at how your bike is set up now.

On Draik's 250 we had to trim the race bodywork to accommodate not having the riser style. That was fine since it was race bodywork and he prefers being lower. If he were to run the stock bodywork, he'd have to use the riser style.

Some bikes require the riser to clear the bodywork....just so you know :thumb:

    I am 5'11" 150# with long arms. I don't use a riser....but that can be bike dependent.
