I'm signed up for the Nov. 24th and 25th track days at Carolina Motorsports Park (novice). Being from Chicago, I ASSumed it would be reasonably warm in SC at the end of November. Oops. According to www.weather.com, the average high and low temps for 11/24 and 11/25 in Kershaw, SC are 63 and 37, respectively.

My question(s): Is it safe and/or enjoyable tooling around on the track when it's below 60 degrees outside? Do your tires warm up sufficiently? (I don't own tire warmers for my H-rated street tires.) Will I be the only one there?

    Thanks!

As far as your tires are concerned, they'll be fine so long as you give them a couple laps to warm up. They may take a lap or two more to warm up than they would on a hotter day, but once they're up to temp, you'll be fine.

As far as attendance, I would expect it to be like any other track day. I've ridden on 50 - 60° days and enjoyed them just as much, if not more, than some of the 85 - 95° days I've done.

Just be patient, wait for your tires to warm up, and you'll have a great time. :)
