I'm having a hard time finding/gaining consistency in body position. At least that's where I think my problem is.

I put knee down the first time this year. And, for a few track days after I was dragging pretty consistently. But, as my speeds have increased my knee isn't touching nearly as much. At Heartland Park, they were just barely skipping along the surface.

    Is this normal?

Your knee is just a gauge. Just because you are not draggin your knee, it does not mean you are going any slower or worse. You are finding where you feel comfortable. There are plenty of fast guys who never touch a puck. I use my knee to see where i'm at and then tuck it back up against the bike. Find a photographer to check some pics to see if your not crossed up. Its really all about being comfortable. Dont worry about the puck so much as your upper body position. If your upper body is right, your lower half will follow.

What he said, as your body position and speed improve, you will be holding the bike more vertical through the corners and touch the knee less. I was dragging knee pucks all the time in B at B pace, as my pace quickened and I worked on body position I found myself dragging knee less and less even though I was carrying more pace. As Troy said its just a gauge.

Thank you. I'll keep what you said in mind at my next track session. And, I'll try to latch onto a coach. I looked at some pics from the last session. I'm not crossed up. My head could be a little lower. But, I'd have to loose some belly to make that happen :D
